Steam Deck Scratchy Audio

I know the game shows as "Verified" but the default Proton (and even Proton -GE) seems to cause the audio to go very crackly after a short while.

For me, the solution was specifying Proton 6.3-8. So far so good. Not done what I would call LONG TERM testing but initial results seem promising.

If devs are able to set the default, it would be nice to have Death Road default to that Proton version for those people who prefer that Pick Up and Play experience.

This is pretty old, but just as an FYI I've noticed the same issue on specifically steam deck and the fix still works, newer Proton won't fix it. It's not immediately noticeable, but you definitely hear it after extended play. I have no problems on my laptop with the native Linux version, just the deck.
