These achievements..
I was willing to 100% the game, but cmon you caught me by surprise by adding a don't get hit by Kain on the first encounter, i got hit 1 time like an idiot, now i have to restart to get it? I was checking the achievements after my session and i noticed these late. Great. And i see on SR2 i have to complete it in under 6 hours too? Man..

it doesn't look like it but if you skip the cinematics of soul reaver 2, the game ends up being very short

I also missed that achievement, and the one for making Melchiah roar by hitting him on the back. But thanks to the godsend that is just being able to skip cutscenes I was able to just sprint through all the different areas and get all the way to Kain in less than 30 minutes.

Also, don't forget that you have more than one save slot. ;)

Thing is i haven't played these games since i was a kid and want to take it slow. I don't think i'll have the will the play through it again after i beat it as much as i adore the game, a shame really.

As long as i don't have to speedrun the first one, getting to Kain won't be too much of a pain i guess. Thanks for the heads up on Melchiah i think i missed that too. I'll check every achievement now properly not to miss anything until the end and save those 2 for a small repeat.

"Beat game in 6 hours"
No thank you.
I guess I'm not 100%ing either.... because the game isn't fun if you rush it. This is a game that's very fun to savour and enjoy.... I don't want to just blitz through it. XD

As long as you don't mess up in the Forges and don't take unnecessary detours (needless backtracking), you can beat SR2 in about 5 hours, including cutscenes. It's not that strict a time limit all things considered.

I doubt they expect someone to earn that achievement on a first playhtru though.
That's true, but even on second playthroughs I prefer taking my time.
There's a similar achievement in FF9, to get Excalibur II, which requires getting to a place near the end of the game in a short amount of time.
And I've just never wanted to do it. That's okay n' all, I just won't get the achievement. I don't mind.
I just don't enjoy rushing through things, makes them feel more like work than play.

Sorry, but that's kind of on you for not reading through the achievements, though. Who sets out to 100% a game without even checking what that would require?
Well, I hope you spoke to Ariel after every boss

...and talked to Dumah before releasing him. Not to mention - avoided exploring the river under that one ship on the way to Rahab's abbey. :ggxxaceddie:
So the first fight with Kain is about 30 minutes into SR1 if you know where you are going and skip the cutscenes, so it's not that bad. If you forgot to make Melchiah scream, you may need to do it anyways if you are going to 100% it.

In terms of SR2 under 6 hours, that's actually not that hard. If you again, skip the cutscenes, know where you are going and generally avoid most fights I think I got it down to just over 2 hours. The time killer in SR2 besides the cutscenes is if you get stuck on a puzzle. I highly recommend giving the game a second run through if you want to do this one, just so you can familiarise yourself with the map and puzzles. It's easy to get turned around in these games and not realise it.

The Janos Aerie in 15 minutes and the Groundling Demon are probably the two hardest to get. The former because it's tricky, and you need to have a planned out route, the later because getting it to spawn is a huge pain.
You could also save before the kain fight, and just... reload the save if you fail, right?
It's still a bit of a trek to get back there but better than starting over.

I almost missed the Kain achievement but reloading your previous save does the trick.

For SR2 i got the 6 hours achievements on my first playthrough, it's really not that hard if you run past all the fights you can.

You don't even need to do that. If you see him fire his lightning - simply shift into the spectral realm. Kain's attacks take a couple of seconds to actually reach Raziel, so they're ridiculously easy to dodge this way.
