SteamVR

SteamVR

Upgraded from a GTX1070 to AMD 7900XTX now no VR :(
I had VR working great on Linux with the GTX1070 although had to run on low settings, so I upgraded to a AMD 7900XTX but can not get any VR to run now.

I'm getting error 109 and no display on my HTC VIVE, It is plugged into the GPU via HDMI, I do not have a mini displayport/displayport cable to test unfortunately.
I was running Ubuntu 24.04 originally, I switched to Arch in case I needed the latest kernel and drivers for the 7900XTX but still no luck.

I have tried installing:
lib32-gtk2, lib32-libva, lib32-libvdpau, lib32-vulkan-radeon, amdvlk etc
I haven't tried the amdgpu-pro drivers yet
Aside from running out to buy a miniDP/DP cable I am almost out of ideas.

Maybe it's something specific to the graphics card.

Here someone writes about problems with this card in windows.
Maybe it's some new power saving or something similar.
I know it's a poor help, but maybe it will be a hint for you.
OMG! I fixed it!
I drove furiously in my MX5 Miata to the office supplies shop before they closed, purchased a mini Displayport to Displayport cable and tried that, worked first try!
