[fixed] Can't connect to Meta Quest Steam Link. (Error 499)
little error window pops up saying there was an error in the video codec, might be necessary to update the Graphics Driver.

im on a Alienware M15 R6. the latest Nvidia Drivers just released and i still can't use it.

How do you do that on windows 11? @gumball
gumballᒷ⊣ᔑꖎ 12 Dec, 2023 @ 3:30am
press windows key, search for Graphics Settings

then go to search apps, and look trough the SteamVR Folder

i had to add vrmonitor.exe ; vrdashboard.exe ; vrserver.exe

hope that works for you :balloon:

Hi there Gumball! I was wondering if you could help me do that by sending me a video or step by step instructions. As I don't think you can send videos here if you are wiling to send me one feel free to ask me for my contact information.
Still facing this issue, Error 200 visible on my Quest and Error 499 on the SteamVR Client. Tried adding those .exes to "high performance", didn't help much.

HP Spectre laptop with MX150 GPU and i7-8550U CPU.
I have tried for a year to connect my son's oculus through steam/he now has the Oculus 3 and still can't connect oculus to PC. I have the D-Link plug in/purchased the link cable for $79.99on Meta Quest site/connected through ethernet/added files to graphics/updated drivers/using windows 10/HP Victus Gaming Laptop with AMDA Radeon Graphics/AMDA Ryzen 5000 Series 5/I've installed and uninstalled serval times then added files in Graphics in Settings/I know it's gotta be 1 simple step I'm missing but just can't figure it out/every time I reach out to support the only answer I have received is this is a common issue and it's being worked on/Any suggestions I would be so grateful for/Thank You

You've probably noticed that your laptops are smaller than typical computers.
This is because they consist of fewer electronic components.
And it is one of these components that you may be missing.

It's about the connection between the graphics card and its image output from the laptop.
In a computer, the matter is simple, the graphics card has plug-ins and you connect monitors or and vr headset.

But in a laptop no, here the graphics card is connected to the second graphics card and from the second one (lower power) the image is sent. Towards the built-in monitor and external monitor outputs. The circuits that govern where and how the image comes out are called mux.

So what you need to do is to know if your laptops can display the image on the connected vr headset.
Your laptops, i.e. not very similar, but with a smaller screen, or a weaker processor, etc.
This is where you should start if you have decided to buy a laptop.

edit:
Display the image on a VR headset connected with the same type of connection.
If it works with goggles that are connected via dp, it doesn't mean that it will work with goggles that use usb.
