got a quest 2 for my bday and im confussed

so i had my bday on the 2nd, and since then ive been trying to link my meta 2 with steam, but it won't work. I've looked up things and they didn't really help. I keep getting a error message and host cant be connected or something like that, plz help

What kind of cable are you using to connect? Some you find on the internet are absolute crap and not VR capable. Another factor is length.

i used the one that came with it at first, then switched to one i got from best buy
