"A key component of SteamVR is not working correctly"
Hello comrades, it's been 8 months since I touched my vr and now out of nowhere steam vr comes up with this "A key component of SteamVR is not working correctly", and I've tried everything, installing new drivers, restarting the USBs, uninstalling and reinstalling it , correct the installation directory and I was checking for conflicting software but nothing helps, it still gives me the same error... what can I do?

The only thing you can do is wait for a steamvr update.
I've tried troubleshooting it from the ground up.
Reinstalling everything, repairing, system checks, verifications, everything.
And it's nothing you can fix at this stage.
Some people have the issue, others don't and it makes no sense but it's tied to steamvr's own vrmonitor.exe and some other files at this point.
That and windows's UCRTBASE.DLL.
So just wait for a steamvr update.

If you are using AMD GPU use 23.12.1 Driver. It fixed the issue for me.

Yes I use an AMD, but where do I get that specific drive, what do you say?

So it's not my problem... but rather the application itself?

That's what I've seen so far from troubleshooting.
And nothing has fixed it so far.
I've done fresh reinstalls from the ground up, verified files, repaired files, checked for corrupted files, done everything I can.
And each time It flags vrmonitor.exe and vrserver.exe and ucrtbase.dll.
Both exe's are steamvr files.
UCRTBASE.dll being a redistributable dll file.
And since I've verified that UCRTBASE is fine by repairing it, checking for corruption etc, it has to be steam's own files which means the only thing to do is to wait for an update.
As for your AMD question, you might wana just google that specific driver version.
What a bummer! I'm back and forth with Steam Support for this one as well... have been trying some of what they've suggested, and things I've seen here...but yeah...nothing works

I fixed mine by reinstalling steamVR ...unplugging all vr items, aka base stations and headset. and restarting pc. Hope this helps.
I have the same problem, really no method in this world can solve it, just wait for an update and pray that the update solves this error.
