Patch 1.0.7 - Spectator Beta

Hello, drivers!

Today we are releasing a Beta version of our new Spectator feature for Karting Superstars. In this current state, the feature is playable, however, there are still UX & UI improvements we need to do, which will be our next area of focus.

Thank you for your patience with our team as we're slowly able to keep building this beloved game!

Update 1.0.7 Changelist :

Added a TV camera to Centrifuge (Club)
Pause on controller disconnect
Increased respawn speed in TT
New custom lobby UX (Beta)
Spectator mode (Beta)
New track select UX (edited)

What we're focusing on:

New art pipeline to make tracks much faster
Netcode: Improved rigid-body synchronisation
New tracks & replay camera refinements to existing tracks

Update 1.0.6

Hello, drivers!

We have a quick patch today with the following changes to Karting Superstars

- Numerous improvements to German localization - Thank you to the wonderful community member known as Dremet (creator of CSUP.APP) for helping us with these.
- The duration of "Waiting for connections" in online multiplayer has been increased to 60 seconds to give players enough time to get into the match.
- Pausing during a screen fade in a race will no longer cause the fade to get stuck.
- Fixed numerous small instabilities.

EA Update 1.0.5: Netcode improvements, online collisions and Aero-duck system.

Hello, drivers!

We’ve released Patch 1.0.5 for Karting Superstars! For this patch, John has put a lot of effort behind improving the general online experience of Karting Superstars. A lot of you will be excited to hear we have added collisions to online play; we’re looking forward to hearing what you think! On the gameplay side, Alberto worked on creating the Aeroduck 🦆 system, previously referred to as Human DRS. This system was inspired by Alberto's and Carlos' karting experience, we all believed this was a great addition to the strategic depth of KSUP.

Here’s what is new on the patch:

🟣New Aeroduck 🦆 gameplay system
Your driver can now duck to draft. This resource can be used strategically to gain marginal advantages or pass other drivers at the right opportunity.

🟣 Improved online driving experience.
🟣Collisions are now permitted in online races.
🟣Reduced load times in general, and in particular when two consecutive races happen on the same track.
🟣Removed vehicle select. You now automatically use the livery you last selected in the garage.
🟣Online races now have a driver showcase as you wait for players to join the race! This is a nice spot to show off your unlocked idles.
🟣6 non-customizable funky Kart liveries.

🟣 Key bindings will correctly reflect non-US keyboard layouts.

As Karting Superstars is on Early Access, it’s important to note that a lot of these changes are experimental and we are very much looking for your feedback. Let us know about your experience with these new systems over on Discord[discord.com].

Update 1.0.4: New Track - Cherry Drive!

Hello, drivers!

Today we are introducing a track inspired by the beautiful springs in Vancouver, during which the city gets covered in pink-crested Cherry Blossom trees!

We have been working on new gameplay features, more tracks and our Netcode 2.0. Stay tuned for more updates throughout November.

Release Notes: Karting Superstars EA v1.0.3 (October 3, 2023)

Features

The mouse can now be used to control the camera in the main menu.

Track Fixes

Hidden Lake & Centrifuge: Floating Grid, Start/Finish Lines, and Tire Barriers corrected.
Sugar Hill: Start line placement corrected.
Sugar Hill: Crowd sound effects are no longer present where there are no crowds.
Copperwood: Full Reverse exploit eliminated.

General Fixes

Unknown input devices are no longer incorrectly mapped to UI actions by default, which was previously preventing interaction with the UI in some cases.
Visible seams on Tony Kanaan’s helmet have been removed.
Pausing and resuming a race intro is less likely to trigger a rare black/darkened overlay during a race.
A very tiny Driver & Kart is no longer visible behind the vehicle in the vehicle select screen.
The “Good Sport” achievement (complete a race with no penalties) is no longer granted in error when the player did incur penalties.
Penalties are now recorded properly the replay headers of online races for use by third-party applications.
Time Trials now make more cross-reference checks to ensure that a better lap time is not overwritten with a worse one.
Celebration animations in Kartcade and Customizations areas now hold a ghosted trophy.
Player color bands in the UI now show color #4.
Replays from Online now show the correct name in the replays list, instead of being labeled “Kartcade”.

Update 1.0.2

Spawn points are now closer to the start line on some tracks.
The countdown times on Copperwood reverse routes are no longer extremely short.
Modded AI drivers now correctly load their kart livery colors and numbers.
AI driver behaviour has been tuned on all tracks.
Drafting has been enabled in Kartcade.
Post-race cameras have been added to Hidden Lake.
Grass on Hidden Lake now has the correct grip values.
The "unknown" column has been removed from the Time Trial pause menu leaderboard.
Ghosts in time trials now fade out when near the player.
Ghost visuals once again work when ghosting occurs due to lapping with "Prevent Lapping Collisions" enabled.
Qualifier duration and mode settings now become unavailable in Kartcore and Custom Lobbies when qualifiers are disabled.
Helmet stickers are now neutrally colored.

AI driver mods now load in Kartcore and Kartcade.
AI driver mod example files are now written to disk when playing Kartcore and Kartcade.
Added a random track option to Kartcore and Custom Lobbies.
Fixed a few small presentation issues on Hidden Lake.
Ghosting visuals now work correctly in online races.
Tony Kanaan's helmet now ghosts correctly.
AI behaviour on Centrifuge has been tweaked.
The game's theme song now fades out at the end.
