I can only say that while in early access I frequently experienced crashes that coincided with collecting the chests that level up equipment (the ones with the open animation). I made a habit of avoiding those chests once I got the EVOs I was looking for on a run to minimize the risk. The ones that came with the rescue helo were safer than the others.

Not sure if that relates to your problem, but it minimized a cause of crashes for me. I do not have a steamdeck so ymmv.
