A really enjoyable visual noval game, with great voice acting and arcs with all the different characters.
Well worth the time!

I’m going to declare this right up front: As someone who’s had several mental health issues for many years now, I’ve found leagues more comfort, solace, and useful mental health advice from playing this game, in which you play as a vampire who decides to become a mental health professional who helps other vampires, than I ever have from the myriad of real-life therapists I’ve ever seen. I prefer to look at that as a testament to how expertly Vampire Therapist does what it sets out to do as opposed to any other potential perspectives (like a condemnation of the American mental healthcare system).

This game is amazing. Please play it. I beg of you.

Enjoying this. Hits too close to home sometimes

Love it! Every single second of it, from start to finish.
Does that mean, it was perfect? Perhaps not–but I'm not one to ponder over minor flaws, if something stole my heart so effortlessly.

Characters are great and interesting, I never ever laughed so much during a game, also, as someone who has a keen interest in psychology, I was delighted to recognize so much I already knew about and even more delighted to learn a few new things.
Also, Andy! I mean, come on, they didn't had to slay this hard with the hot vampire mentor trope, but alas–they went above and beyond.

Clients have interesting and varying personalities, it never felt like more of the same thing.
Other characters are all kinds of positives, either lovable or amusing (or both, looking at you Bert, Reinhard, Maxi and Ciaran), but never boring. Quite the opposite, I'd love to learn more about them too (or get to therapize some of them).
The humor is great, it flips between sharp and silly, poking fun at a lot of today's social fooleries, but never comes off as simply mean.
But most and foremost, the game manages to remain a serious, profound ground with its themes. Despite all the humor and laughing (from my part), I never lost the feeling of taking my clients problems serious and really wanting to help them. It's masterfully balanced in getting its point across but also leaving you with a smile and the warm and fuzzy feeling of finding community and helping others.

I guess, it's not for everyone. But if you're interested in psychology, appreciate history with a twist, like oddball characters and humor ranging from poignant over witty to silly, or simply want to make the (vampire) world a better place, one client at a time, give it a shot!

Excuse me, I'm on my way, fangirling the rest of the day over Andy. You take care (and play Vampire Therapist! I mean it! Do it! If you're the type of person to regret it afterwards, I doubt you would be here in the first place.)

I don't know what it is about visual novels. I avoided them for the longest time cause I was being arrogant. No. It's so good. I was supposed to go to bed before midnight. I did not, in fact, do that. It's voiced, there's music, the art is astounding. My minor gripe is that Isabella has some audio issues and some of the subtitles were not edited to match the voicing. But! Sam is best boy.

The art is great, the music is great, the voice acting is spectacular, and the writing is where this game truly shines. It's funny and clever and once you get into it you realise how smart it is as well.

What an incredibly well put together game! Vampire Therapist stands as an exemplary of the visual novel genre; I could hardly tear myself away from playing it. The artwork was gorgeous, the music atmospheric, and mechanics were simple but smoothly slotted in with the feeling of the game.

But man, the writing! Especially the writing elevated by the stellar voice acting! I'm feeling a little giddy after playing this, but I can't help but think that it's an honour to be alive to experience such a colourful and compassionate story. Every character was strong, unique, imperfect and hauntingly relatable- sometimes to the point of healthy discomfort for the player; for example, I saw parts of myself in Isabella d'Este that I don't often like facing. But because these characters were so (ironically) human in their depiction, the kind words of Sam Walls seemed to reach beyond the screen and talk to the player. The game says to not use this as a replacement for real therapy, of course, but being able to relate to the flaws of the characters and be told that, despite our flaws, we can accept ourselves and change for the better, and that we can take our time in this journey... yes it isn't a replacement for therapy, but it is a lovely reminder to have when we live in a world that can be harsh.

And on another note about the writing, the pacing was impeccable. Pacing in narrative games is a rough thing to nail, but gosh did the writers nail it! Everything flowed so naturally and moments stayed as long as they needed to. Jokes landed in appropriate times, and the story knew how to sit and let the player absorb the sombre and/or shocking moments.

Only one VERY small complaint, and one hope for the sequel. The complaint is that sometimes the voicelines didn't match with the text; though it was never egregiously wrong, it was often only a word or so missing or changed. I'm just a pedant though; it doesn't take away from the experience. The thing I hope to see in the sequel is CG art for each character's/client's story- I suppose I expected it, since it's a mainstay in a lot of these kinds of games, and it's fine that this game doesn't have it because it doesn't take away from how good this game is, but I was a little disappointed there was no CG art at/near the end, especially considering how funny the end of Dr. Drayne's penultimate session was. Honestly, though, I just wanted to see more of the fantastic art, haha.

I'm so looking forward to the sequel; the next part of Sam's story sounds so exciting! High recommend for anyone who likes visual novels or just a damn good story.
