THIS IS NOT SNOWRUNNER, and most of the negative reviews are from people who thought it would be Snowrunner 2. Despite the Devs saying "This is not Snowrunner". Despite the previews and the demos and the descriptions showing a more Scout-focused gameplay. People decided that this was gonna be Snowrunner 2 and WHOA are they vocal and negative when this wasn't.

OK. So this is like an off-road focused Scout experience. If you played Snowrunner and loved the Scouts, but wished the terrain made you work harder, this is for you.

You don't plan routes for cargo. There basically isn't cargo, and there's no trailers.

In Snowrunner, you more or less plan routes across the map from Workshop to Factory to Farm to Etc.

In Expeditions, you're mostly trying to plan your next 10m across vastly difficult terrain, mostly including cliffs and sharp slopes and occasional mud or water crossings. It's a lot harder than it sounds, due to the map design. And the map design is lovely. Beautiful. You also get binoculars and a drone to help open up the map and plan your routes visually, instead of just always guessing from your truck.

Each run, you can bring up to 4 trucks into a wilderness camp. Your repair supplies and fuel is limited. It's not particularly scarce, and there's ways to load up trucks with spare fuel, but it's a concern when planning.

THERE IS A FREE ROAM. You can hop into the maps and explore freely, as long as you like (And have fuel). There's airdrops with supplies scattered around the map any time you go in.

I, personally, don't play American/Euro Truck Sim, and carrying a load of tree trunks from one side of the map to the other and repeat 6 times is the most tedious part of Snowrunner. So Expeditions is definitely more fun to me, and I can always hop back into Snowrunner when I want a chill drive. Expeditions is never really chill, but it's very rewarding.

I've had a lot of fun with snowrunner and was pretty psyched for Expeditions. I've put 111 hours into it so I guess I like it. But first understand my play style. I use mods to get very capable vehicles and cheats to get tons of money. In both games I have no interest in struggling thru a mud hole with a weak sauce vehicle. I want to drive and complete missions. Certain terrains provide enough challenges, trees in the way, rocks on slanted hill sides that will roll you, challenging rivers etc for even the most capable vehicles. So while Expeditions is fun, the value of the cargo drones, drone, water echo and binoculars might help but they just aren't required. I can complete missions w/o running out of gas or needing the jacks. I get that is my own fault by using more capable vehicle mods but I do wish that the game was less about scarce resource problems and more about the physics of driving and using the binoculars and drones to solve geographic problems. For example, once I drive around a new map or fly my drone, I can chart a course thru challenging terrain even though it's still gray. I don't really need to ever use the binoculars or drone. I wish those were more integral to game play than the limited resource struggle. This is almost more of a resource management game than a driving/exploration game, unless you have unlimited resources and then it's just an easy driving game. I get that's my fault, but I wanted expeditions to be an exploration game not a resource management game. If I want resource management I'll play Civ or one the many other games that I hate.

game needs little nit picky things.. but overall worth the money. Cross platform play, amazingly realistic driving, amazing graphics, slow to grind sometimes but worth every minute of it. would recommend to everyone, and to play at least past the tutorial. as a player who isnt afraid of a game grind, after 30 hours.. im hooked.
