Nether

For returning players:
Hi I'm Fish, I used to host and sometimes when I'm bored still host FishNFriends. Nether doesn't really have regular players, just people revisiting something they used to play years ago. My server when it was running 24/7 was seeing around 50unique players monthly, most did not stay passed their first deaths. This is just a bit of information that might help you guys that are just coming back, into the swing of things.

//Server Related

Global Inventory: Accessible storage that can be access from every safe-zone, you keep these items after death. Usually you'll see a trailer with a person inside it, by clicking "I" near it you will be brought to the global inventory menu. Lakeside Safe Haven's is by the tribe recruiter that you'll meet if you follow the tutorial.

Server Market: Not all servers share the same economy, while AusAntiHeroes, and Dalmland are strictly vanilla, there are servers like Total Nether and mine that have custom markets. Shops can be accessed in the same places as you access your global inventory.

Server Gifts: Some servers gift new players items, you can access these at all settlements in your global inventory. By default nether awards 10 Golden Keys, but server owners can remove this.

Third-person: By entering /changecamera into your in-game chatbox you can toggle between first and third-person on servers that support third-person view.

//Tricks

Carry More Guns: Assume you have a primary gun, but find another primary gun you'd like to pickup. Most of the time, even when you have a large backpack and plenty of space Nether simply won't let you do this. It will say the item either exceeds your size or weight limits. To get around this you can drag the gun you have in your primary slot directly into your inventory, then pickup the other gun, that other gun will now be equipped, you can now swap it with the gun in your bag if you'd prefer to carry the one you started with.

Survive Death Spawns: If you're unlucky enough to get a spawn that puts you under the map, you need to instantly force close your game. Even after you die if you're quick enough you might be able to save your character and gear. Note that sometimes if you've died but force closed your character will reset but your gear will not.

//Communication

Chatbox: Pressing the "Enter" key will let you compose and send messages on the in-game chatbox. By pressing "F1" you can toggle the chatbox to always be open or alternatively you can enable "Show Chat For New Messages" in your "Settings/Gameplay". You'll see a "Message of the Day" when you join a server, and anything after that will be from either you or another player.

Voice-chat: By pressing and holding "B" you will enable voice chat, upon release the voice chat will stop. With that said, in my experience sometimes people can hear me sometimes they cannot. Note that under "Settings/Gameplay" you can disable voice-chat.

Groups: under "Social/Players" you can click the "+" button next to other players to invite them to your team. These players can go to "Social/Invites To Other Groups" To accept the invite

Taunts: Press "G" to use your last selected taunt, alternatively you can select a new taunt by pressing "Enter" and scrolling through the taunt list on the right side of the screen.

Map pings: Right clicking the map will ping the position, this will show-up in your compass to help you navigate to that point. Group Leaders pings will also show-up for their members.

//Things to do

Buggy: You can find the buggy in the middle of Landsunk Residential, you'll have to hang out in the area for a bit before it'll spawn, but it will always spawn in the tent at the center of the claim. The buggy can hold a driver and a passenger, but note that the passenger will be stuck until they die or re-login, and the driver *may* face death or graphical bugs.

Wing Glide: You can acquire the wing Glider from looting or shops, this can be used to get down from high points without taking damage. You can assign the wing glider to a quick slot to use on your travels. Holding "W" will tilt the glider towards the ground, and holding "S" will tilt it back up. Word of warning, it does not pull out instantly, and you must hold down the corresponding key you assigned to the wing glider for around a second before it will deploy.

Nether Reapers: A large mini boss nether with a large health pool, fairly quick movement speed, and does a decent amount of damage. After defeating the reaper *sometimes* you will receive drops from it, the most valuable being the "Reaper Claws". you can trade the claws for high end weapons, or just sell them outright at all safe-zones.

Courier Packages: In all safe-zone's you will find crates that will say something such as "LSZ to MTO", you must drop these packages off at their respective destination. In this case the Museum Outpost. in return you will receive some money and experience.

Escort Packages: These are crates found out in the wastes that you must deliver to a safe-zone. They require both hands to carry and can put you in a very vulnerable state if you get caught out without your weapon. In return you'll receive some money and experience.

Safe-zone Attacks: These are events where nether will invade safe-zones, and if not dealt with will render safe-zones unusable for a time. To stop safe-zone attacks you must re-enable all Anti-Nether Devices. As a reward you get your safe-zone back, experience for the nether you fight, and nothing else including drops.

Loot Drops: These are supply drops. Just stand near the indicator on the map for the duration of the timer, and multiple drops will fall. Very little threat is posed at these without other players. They can include high end gear, food, meds, and various other knick-knacks.

Yeah when I originally did the market I was trying to empower the cash drops you find by leveling out prices. Definitely right that it's easy to get good gear. I increased the game difficulty to 2 to attempt to balance that, but I really don't even know how much that changes things.

Thanks for the info Fish! I started playing some yesterday on a server i put up and forgot how to chat. :) Has been a good while since I played last with anybody else on the server.

Question, figured you might know but anybody who knows please feel free to answer. Is the newer Nether - The Untold Chapter a different game in any way? I saw some posts of ppl saying its exact same game as Nether Resurrected but I am not sure. Some of the screenshots almost look like a different city. I'm curious in terms of anybody else being able to buy any more copies of the game and be able to play on Nether (Resurrected) servers.

Thanks!

Hiya, Glad it was helpful!

So Nether The Untold Chapter isn't significantly different than Nether Resurrected, but The Untold Chapter players can't join Resurrected servers and vice versa. The map from The Untold Chapter is pretty much the exact same (may have been some minor tweaks). The major differences I can think of between them is The Untold Chapter has ultrawide support, a new anticheat (Linux can't play), a reworked UI, atleast one more enemy type, and a sprinkling of new bugs.

Thanks a lot Fish. I also saw some info after posting this question yesterday suggesting it was the guy behind World War Z (Sergei Titov) that got the rights and put Nether TUC together. Not sure if that's true or not but seems to be. I was a World War Z buyer/player back then too. (later became known as Infestation: Survivor Stories etc. adnauseum due to lawsuits over the name from the company that made the movie).

That's good to know, thanks for sharing the info. I think I'll defer on trying to do anything serverwise in support of untold chapter for now and just stick to Nether Resurrected. I will try to keep this server up for the long haul.
