28% positive reviews ? Is this game really that bad ?
I had this game on my wishlist for quite some time. But now it's on sale and i am thinking about buying it. But the reviews are so bad, it's probably the lowest rating i have seen. So, how is it ? Is it broken or something ? I cant think of any other reason why would a game be rated so badly.

Yes, its that bad. Its uninspired and bland and most 4x games do EVERYTHING better than this one does.

Well...it's not that bad as reviews show, but there is little to no progress from the devs since 11/2014. Some ideas are quite interesting.

I disagree with josh027 ... kinda.
It is that bad.

But it's not bland or uninspired .. it's very similar to every game in the genre ... well maybe it's uninspired.

My issue is the game play (I can learn), the random crashes (well I need a break), how it won't even load every now and then (Grrrrrrrrrr) and how, for me at least, I can't restore from a savegame (deal breaker).

I doubt the devs will fix all the bugs. Wait till the winter 2015 sale and if there is at least 2 major patches then think about it. As it stands now this game is ALPHA. Not Beta, not pre-release, not released. ALPHA.

75% off is not enough for the game as it stands now. if it hits 90% (+) then try it.

At 75% off, it might be worth considering but I don't think most players will get much more than a few hours of enjoyment out of it.

I agree with josh027 that most other recent space 4X games are better than this and some are very reasonably priced even without a sale. I disagree with Ithaqua in that, while it contains the features you'd expect in the genre, I don't think it executes any of them well. The end result is the game just feels stale, like it was a project with grand ideas that never saw the follow through.

No updates- and I bought the game hoping to support the developers to create something far more stunning then what I've gotten so far.

It's typical Steam Early Access scam: 1. Create shell of a program. 2. Come up with grandiose idea of what you want to do with it. 3. Release it on Steam EA. 4. Do nothing. 5. Profit.

If it was that easy you wouldn't be posting this because you'd be doing it and raking in MILLIONS /s

I'm sure there is some criteria for getting in the SEA positiio, but I agree that it doesn't seem much, and it doesn't seem like there is much follow-up or post "addition to the EA" status requiring devs or publishers to show good faith in actually finishing a product to a certain level (right now that level is WAY too low). Sooner or later, with as much problems as the EA system is having, complaints, demands for refunds, and accusations of scams, that eventually Steam will have to step in and do something. An overhaul of the EA TOS and a follow up protocol for those who do gain entry in the Steam EA status is a MUST.I think the EA system is the one thing steam's reputation suffers from the most. I know I decided long ago to never involve myself in an EA status game despite understanding it's purpose...the risk is just too great.

Steam isn't forcing anyone to buy any game. It only facilitates the process between the developers and the consumer. If you buy a game when the game is already out with reviews and forum then you are totally responsible for your purchase.

Yes. It is.
