Yet another one of those “quick laugh party games”.

Hoofobia is a very simple, broken mess of a game with hilariously bad physics and limited content. You play either as a hunter or as deer in three different game modes:

Imposter Hunt: My favorite mode. Here, you blend in with many AI Deers that just walk around, wiggle their tails and eat grass. You need to fool the Hunter into shooting the wrong Deers, until his sanity meter depletes. You can also attack the hunter to increase his insanity bar. The hunter just needs to find the imposter Deers (other players) and pump them full of lead. When downed, Deers can still move slowly but cannot attack anymore. They can however be revived. The chance that this will be successful is very slim, however.

Stay Close: In this mode, the arena keeps getting smaller and smaller. You need to keep close to the hunter to earn points. The hunter needs to find you and shoot your a$$.

Hit and Run: In this mode, you need to pummel the hunter and earn points, while the arena keeps getting smaller. This mode is almost impossible for the hunter when three or four Deers are constantly pushing the Hunter to the ground.

The graphics are outdated, and nothing special. However, for a game this simple, they just work. The animations are clunky, laggy and sometimes it looks like the Deers are getting a seizure.

The sound is blend and boring. The only good sound effect is the shot of the rifle.

Although the game does not take itself seriously, it is plagued by bugs. Sometimes after being rammed by a Deer, the zoom function of the rifle suddenly stops working. Other times, the hunter keeps getting stuck inside a rock or tree and cannot move anymore.

Hoofobia is hilarious because it is so bad. It is the ultimate Friday night party game with some friends, and I would surely recommend it.
