Extremely fun fighting game at its core... but sadly, the netcode is a mess.
It received an update to make it less of an SF5-esque mess of teleports, but it's still not entirely solved.

BBTag is my favorite fighting game, and this game perfectly scratches the itch it's left me with ever since I was unable to continue playing that. I can play it with my friend offline when we spend time together, but I'd love to keep playing on my own through online and it's really frustrating that it doesn't feel like a worthwhile option.

The price is pretty steep, but if you asked me if I'd find it worth it had they left us with a proper complete package (like, at least having reasonable netcode) then I'd tell you I wouldn't mind the price point whatsoever. I LOVED the game after trying the demo and was really looking forward to playing... but in its current state, it's best to consider it at another time. The game is genuinely the most fun I've had with a fighting game in SO LONG, but they really need to do something about its extremely crippling issues. This netcode is unacceptable in this day and age, especially when we've seen games, both old and new, step up their netcode from the nightmares of delay-based slop.

The real netcode issues were fixed fairly quickly, but afterwards the game’s poor sales couldn’t sustain an online community. The gameplay is extremely fast-paced, so even with solid connections and good netcode, there’s only so much that can be done when you’re flying across the screen at lightning speed against someone from another country. This problem is compounded by the very small online player base (only 4 players in the last hour, 40 in the past 24 hours, and just 181 all-time).

Still, the game is a lot of fun-especially if you have someone to play with.
