The Pre Next Fest Demo Update (v0.3.8.6)

Hi all, here is new update!
We've added a lot of new audio, many fixes and optimizations. For instance, BuddyBot got some new paint and moves, such as being able to empty materia filters!

We have fixed two big blocking bugs in the tutorial where you couldn't repair the engine or use the sensor display.

We've changed how look sensitivity works which menas the current defaults aren't correct (we'll fix those in the next patch, sorry. You probably want to set look smoothing to 0). The reason for the change is to fix the frame hitching some of you have seen and hopefully this patch should fix that.

We have also enabled låcalization suppört! Everything hasn't been translated yet, but we will get there! Jag lovar!

Your progression will unfortunately get wiped again as we've moved to Steam Cloud for save files...

v0.3.7.41 - Stabilization, optimization and progression wipe

Thank you all for testing and providing bug reports and feedback. This time around we've been focusing on stabilizing the game a lot, specifically network related errors.

To help us stabilize the game even further, we've reduced the amount of content in the game to focus our efforts on some specific areas of the game. Overall the performance should be better and more stable in multiplayer. There are a lot of tiny fixes and tweaks throughout the game which will hopefully give a more pleasant experience.

Unfortunately, we have had to wipe the progression again since we want some fresh data on the limited content.

Hello! Below are the most notable changes for this update. We have done a lot of tweaks and improvements, added new missions and destinations and a lot more!

Progression wipe and new introWe’ve created a new introduction to the game to give more context on what you’re doing and why. This is our first iteration of the lore, and we’ll expand it as we continue developing the game prior and during Early Access. Unfortunately, we needed to wipe your progression since the intro of the game will assist and unlock parts to proceed.

We’ve also changed how you unlock components. You now simply unlock them by finding them during missions, instead of doing side quests.

Ship Persistence
The components you have installed on the ship when a mission ends will continue to be installed and exist when you start the next mission. Components on the floor and shelves will not carry over.

Introducing BuddyBot!
With this update we have also introduced a new droid that will help you on your solo missions - Buddy Bot! BuddyBot is not the most intelligent one (yet), but it will do for now. He can man the combat seat, revive you, help shooting robots on foot, repair the Core, and teleport loot to the ship. When he's not busy assisting you, he’ll be cleaning the bar. He’s not active when playing co-op (still cleans the bar though).

Artifacts
Artifacts are tablets you will find during the missions that can alter your session completely with unique passive abilities to your ship and crew. The Artifacts are installed on the ship next to the Core, and will play a significant role in Jump Ship moving forward. This will give the game a more roguelite flavor and we’ve been having a lot of fun trying out various builds when testing internally. It still needs a lot more tweaks and we’re looking forward to hear your feedback.

Ship Ammo
We have removed enhanced ammo and replaced it with proper ship ammo. The ship’s guns now use ammo and you now need to craft and reload your guns for proper firepower. When playing solo, BuddyBot will reload for you.

Player inventory reworked
We’ve reworked the player inventory to be more flexible so you can carry more items. Fewer items are considered heavy now too.

Emotes
Hold X to bring up an emote wheel! 👍

Network and crash fixes
We’ve done a lot of work to stabilize the network connection, so playing with your friends will work way better. We’ve also fixed a bunch of crashes and bugs hindering you from progressing.

Known issues
There are some issues with picking up weapons in the hangar at the shooting range, and we’ve also noticed that it sometimes looks like you can't grapple (greyed out F interact button) items to you, but you can.

Note: This list consolidates major gameplay‑relevant changes. Many smaller fixes, network refactors, or behind the scenes code changes have been omitted for brevity. Enjoy the updates!

Hi all!
Here's notes for version v0.2.5.26. This one is focused on the most reoccurring issues we’ve seen on Discord and some quality of life fixes. We have changed how the player inventory looks, the ammo in weapons work, the guns got a new recoil model, you can craft core repair kits in the assembler, and most notably we have a completely new flight model! More below!

Please note, the changelog style is still experimental and we're still trying out different ways of writing the changelog. Is this too much info? :D

Community Reported Issues Resolved

Stuck in reviving animation when another player already reviving
Multiplayer shouldn't break for everyone when a client gets disconnected
Failing a mission now yields a partial reward based on jumps completed.
Separate mouse sensitivity for On foot, pilot seat, jetdrive and combat station
Option to Toggle ADS
Fix for some Loading stalls
Players can now interact (F) after finishing a mission
Lockdown – Added teleporter at the end of the level (and hopefully you will get loot too :D) Optimized the level to get more FPS
You can cancel the docking sequence
Can't slide around during tutorial cinematic anymore

Holding right alt and pressing left click doesn't hold left click anymore.

New flight model

You boost immediately
- The ship keeps momentum for a longer time so it takes much longer to stop
- Ship turning depends on its speed.
Cruise control:
- You can activate cruise control (same button as Docking, default is C) which will basically keep the ship flying forward until you disable it, it detects an upcoming collision, there is an actual collision OR you reach the end of the destination.
Docking/Landing:
- Landing sequence can now be aborted.
- Added Core VO's to communicate the ship activating landing sequence and once it's settled and landed.
AI aiming:
- You can now avoid missiles by maneuvering & boosting
- When boosting, missiles track worse
- Gunship turrets will start missing if you are at high speed
- Gunship turrets will also start missing if you are doing tight turns and weaving.
Components:
- The default engine now only has boost. With upgrades you get more and more boosts in store you can use during combat. Flares are not part of the default anymore.
- There's now an engine that has the flare ability. It has less boosts, but the flare ability will guarantee avoiding missiles.
- There's now a third engine that has a shield ability. A shield ability can be activated by the pilot to protect against frontal attacks. Any projectile hitting the shield will do ~25% of the damage. This engine also has less boosts, but will be very efficient at blocking damage from attacks coming in from the front.

Missions & Progression

Reduced radiation rods requirement from 4 → 3 for 1–2 players.
Short Missions: Reduced required jumps from 4 → 3.
Partial Mission Rewards: Failing a mission now yields a partial reward based on jumps completed.

Weapons & Combat

Ammo System Overhaul
- Each weapon holds its own ammo.
- Instapickup ammo packs grant 1 magazine; ammo boxes fully refill on interact.
- Ammo multiplier removed.
Recoil & Spread
- New recoil system applies to all weapons.
- Camera recoil updated (toggle ADS option added).
- SMG Mk2 is easier to aim.
RPG & Railgun
- RPG ammo reduced (5 → 3 shots), cost increased (20 → 40), range cut (2000m → 1200m).
- Firing an RPG or Railgun within 1200m alerts AI ships.
Materia Gun
- Damage, reload screen shake, and transitions polished.
Assembler
- Can craft small core repair kits for 100 materia.

Enemies & AI

Corvette
- The boarding of the corvette is completely rebuilt.
Raptors
- Smoother head turn, new VO & SFX, “shapekeys” showing progressive damage.
Spiderbots & Minibots
- New hurt effects, VFX, and flamethrower animations (Arachnids).
Reduced Enemy Ship Toughness
- Less ramp‑up in higher challenge ratings; crises are less frequent for more player breathing room.

Controls & UI

Key Rebind & Sensitivity
- Fixed keybinding issues with controller vs. keyboard, added sensitivity options for on‑foot, pilot seat, combat seat, and jet drive.
- Zoom/ADS no longer stuck after exiting stations.
Improvements to item icon display (preventing some icons from showing through walls).

Other Changes

Jetdrive Speed: Lowered from 60 → 40 as part of jetpack/traversal balancing.
Audio Tweaks:
- Tweaked music ducking, VO attenuation.
- Marksman Rifle SFX reimplemented; lowered volume on repeated music tracks.
