the server is a separate program. its in the ac install folder.
also, if you find the need to, you can install it separately from steam tools.

rightclick ac in steam library, manage > browse local files. i will not tell you the folder name, because its obvious, and you said you are a pro serverhoster.
you need to use the manager program, i think.

its not hard, but the gui is not quite good.
i cant tell you more, as i have not used it much.
the server was actually crashing for me a few days ago, for some reason.
there appears to be some kind of manual, when you launch it.

Honestly for ease of use and configuration plus without having to bother going through folders and installing more crap, Just use Content Manager if you are not using it already. It has a dedicated tab for setting up the server you want with easy to follow menu selectors or sliders to set things up easy peasy, no, don't squeeze me but you can buy me a beer later

I find it kind a hard to hear that you think CM is dangerous to "your" system, Please explain in more details what happened or exactly why you are still attempting to remove it from your system. I think the thousands of CM users would appreciate you sharing your wonderful knowledge about this CM which I myself have been using for years without any issues but as you said,

cm is off topic. if you are ok with it, its ok.
virustotal has some data about it, look it up. but there is more, because virustotatal does not have the same system as you and me.

I think all of you guys are missing the point. You've turned this into a "CM bashing" which isn't helping anyone get closer to setting up their private server - something I too wish to see straightforward instuctions for because I too have been unable to solve - I keep having a connection failure error.

I don't know if this is what you're looking for. But there are quite a few Youtube videos on setting up a server for Assetto Corsa. I looked into it myself. I'm also an older guy. But it sounds like you have more computer skills than me. I'm not illiterate but it seemed a bit much for me. I ended up just using the public online servers. You can find a lot of them that are pretty much empty and you would have them to your selves. HTH.
