Random travel times?
Are travel times random, because before I did a mission to get the Vault pass I did see another $-sign mission at an 8 hour flight. And the Vault pass mission was at an 11 hours flight. So my reasoning was, nice, then I fly 11 hours to get the Vault pass and then 3 hours (11-8) to get the $-sign mission to do the heist. Only to discover, the travel time to the $-sign mission had doubled to 6 hours. This was kinda dissapointing when planning it out for a minimal time lost in flights. So is this just random, the travel times from place to place?

It's based on distance, but there are some restrictions. Travel time will never be less than 5 hours, and never more than 12.

You can and should prioritise missions that are close together to save on time as long as it makes sense to do so given their mission type, corp type, difficulty rating, etc.

EDIT: The Generation Options+ mod (IIRC) allows some customisation of the travel time modifier.

The UI Tweaks Reloaded mod https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2660875942 allows you to preview travel times relative to other missions. I.e. if you hover over a mission, you will see how long it will take to travel to other locations from that mission.

Thanks for the awnsers, that was my guess as well. That the times are still quite relative to distance, but that there would be a margin as you say, no less than 5 hours and not more than 12 hours. This is good to know on having an estimated guess on what missions to choose, based on distance. Of course there are a lot of other factors to consider as well ;-) .
