This game is great. The open world is fun, the combat is fun (though a bit easy, even on the hardest difficulty), the story is interesting, and the hacking is fun (even if it's not remotely realistic).

BUT. And this is a very big but. The online mode only works if you buy the game from Ubisoft, and not from Steam. This means that you will never be able to complete the online achievements or 100% the game. If that bothers you, then either buy the game from Ubisoft (ew) or don't play.

The game is definitely worth playing overall though.

Watch dogs is an enjoyable game to play. But you need to download "flawless widescreen" to play it with normal FoV. I set mine at 17.75 in that program and it worked/looked great.

If you only play the base game - this game will be enjoyable from start to finish, no matter if you grind all side content or not. Despite a few prolonged animations here and there - everything works really well.

The story is slighly above average. Voice acting is pretty good. The main character fits its role. It was a bit strange that even though you play as a hacker - you can carry and use the whole arsenal of an army (various shotguns, pistols, ARs, sniper rifles and even grenade launchers). Some missions can feel like those badass shoot-em-up movies from the 80s.

I find car controls arcade-y, but fun. You can feel the speed in this game. Police chases reminded me of the original NFS:Most Wanted and the chaos that you create with your hacking tools on the road were very reminiscence of Split Second game.

Hacking is very streamlined and you will use it mainly for cameras and for various puzzles. Other than that you will hack random people's phones for money and small missions. I find all the hacking stuff a bit too simplistic and not to deep, sadly. But it was ok anyway.

Gameplay is smooth. Movement felt similar to Assassins' Creed games from that time period, but the vaulting is a bit too limited. And you can't jump. So there is that.

Map is quite big, but most areas aren't very memorable. It's just a city for you to do predetermined things. I don't know why, but this game reminded me a bit of Deus Ex games. Has similar feeling/aura.

Side content is pretty good. I enjoyed doing the usual "checklist" of things to do like in every ubisoft game. Sadly, if you want to get all achievements, you'll have to do online stuff and good luck with that. If you don't have Watch Dogs on the ubisoft launcher - online will not work. Yep. And if you have, then you'll have to install the game there and run it at least once to be able to play online content through Steam. AAAANd even if you can - nobody really plays it. And if you manage to connect to some random dude - he will probably disconnect midway through stuff. Bleh. Abomination of a service.

As for the Bad Blood DLC... it's bad. Most main missions are nonsensical Rambo-like shootouts without any real story behind them. Side missions are also extremely repetitive and there are like 100 of those. Holy F. In some missions, good luck staying in one place near a computer while dozens of enemies, that can three-tap you, swarm you from all 4 directions at the same time while also throwing grenades at you every 10 seconds. Plus you have to talk with a police lady before and after every single side mission.... Every. Single. Time. With. The. Same. Repetitive. Lines..... F. THAT.
Overall the DLC package is not worth it. It's just sloppily made.

Base game is good and is still worth playing. DLC - avoid.

Watch Dogs is the definition of 'fine'. It's an open world game that does nothing great but nothing horribly either, just a completely average Ubisoft experience from start to finish.

The hacking mechanics, which were supposed to set it apart, end up feeling like simple button presses rather than deep, meaningful gameplay systems. Most of the time, hacking just boils down to pressing a button to make things explode, raise a barrier, or scan enemies, and while it's a unique gimmick at first, it quickly becomes repetitive. There is a huge lack of mission variety. The open world itself is standard fare—climb towers (or in this case, hack ctOS hubs), clear out enemy outposts, and do repetitive side activities. The driving feels stiff, the shooting is serviceable, and the side missions offer little variety beyond the usual Ubisoft checklist.

The story doesn't do much to elevate the game either. It takes itself way too seriously, yet the writing and characters don’t have the depth to back it up. Aiden Pearce might be one of the most boring protagonists in an open world game, and the narrative never really gives him or the world any real personality. Overall i think Watch Dogs 2 is a much better game, there is some good stuff here at it's core but in the end it just felt like an average open world game.

This game was the worse I have seen, from horrible stutters, to clunky movements, and arguably the worst movement and shooting mechanics I've seen.....

While the living city mod really helps improve the gameplay of this boring, unfinished game, it does nothing to fix the utterly nonsensical story of Adam Pearce. The writers decided to "SuBvErT eXpEcAtIoNs" by making the story about Adam's sister and her children instead of it being about Adam's own family. I'm sorry, but I cannot bring myself to care that deeply about another man's child, and it's impossible to convince me that any man would. It just feels weird, and his grief seems entirely forced and unfounded.

Had the story been properly written to be about Adam and his wife dealing with the grief of losing their daughter while struggling to keep their marriage alive for the sake of their son, the story could've been actually engaging. Instead, it's just a bizarre and unrealistic story about a man grieving the loss of another man's child while also trying to parent another man's child. It's gross, and at no point in the story is the real father of those children ever addressed.

SCORE: 5/10. With the living city mod I would increase it to a generous 6.
