Omikron 360 controller running around in circles
anyone got a fix for the controls on this thing after making an enix account then a steam account then changing compatibility i'm still not playing the damn thing . . . . . . oh here's a free game but it don't flippin work lol

Albeit even older DirectInput 5 supported dead zones, it was up to every specific game to decide what to do with them. Omikron dev didn't, so that's your problem.

You have to play the game with your controller unplugged using a keyboard and mouse.
I love this game - it has tons of problems, yes. But the overall concept and art style is amazing - plus David Bowie.

Yeah this game doesn't work with modern gamepads at all, you've got to use a DirectInput pad or a program to convert the signal to DI if you want to use a gamepad with this (which I kind of recommend because the keyboard controls are a mess)

hard to believe nobody has made a config file for this game, i was really hoping to avoid things like xpadder

It's not about being modern or not. It's about dead zones.
And conversion is already in place should you have XInput controllers.

it's not about config files? what is it then? i know there are guys out there that make up patches to solve things like this . . . . . .

I just tried this with a 360 controller myself and saw it was busted, so I wrote a quick DirectInput wrapper and targeted it at this specific use case. You can download it here:

The included ReadMe.txt contains instructions:

1) Place dinput.dll and dinput_config.cfg in the Omikron directory, where you should already have a file called Runtime.exe. 2) Run the game. DO NOT overwrite any existing dinput.dll on your system with the one in this distribution. This is a wrapper module, and works by attempting to load the original dinput.dll from your Windows system directory. If you overwrite your system copy with this one, things will break terribly. The cfg file may be modified to adjust deadzones are adapt scale/bias of the raw controller axis values. The defaults are set up to work for the Xbox 360 controller.

Hope it works for everyone!

I'm having this problem too with my 360 controller, and not sure what available solutions there are? I'd like to experience it y'know "Dreamcast-style"....

Hmm, seems the controls are still overly sensitive when I reach the supermarket, and it goes into First Person Shooter mode... I can't properly aim at anything. Any tips or help on setup there?
