I assume there are some trigger points which activate the AI and then they drive toward you. It seems they have a simple pathfinding routine to avoid obstacles and thats it. There are no ambushes or greatly scripted scenes in the game.

Well, maybe this can be a future update idea for the developer.

I've seen what feels like the cars give up on chasing me to head me off in a new section, when I am about to exit their reach. But maybe that's me projecting.

i was hit by a camper out of left field,i feel they learn. just my opinion. game is def creepy.

Some only head directly at you, others will alternate between driving at you and driving away from you, meaning they preform a constant high speed hit n run
