If the resources and species are fruitful enough for 16, and it is manageable to the team - why not.
While I do understand it is the headache to creative players only.

Having 4 honestly turned me off. Just too much to harvest.

If I remember correctly, the devs said they would potentially consider increasing the maximum extra farmlands, but if they did it would come down the line after a lot of other things they want to get into the game.

Starting a new farm is lot more fun for me, new challenge, new ideas instead of filling up space just to fill up space. But everybody has his own cup of thee.

You want a lot more animals etc....
Well, if you have a magic wand please talk to the Devs.

And what's that about creative players having headache?
I'm sure you don't mean that offensive

But it is clear to me, you will ask for 16 if they give you 8.

You can certainly have more farms, you just have to start new ones. If you start a new farm, you will be starting over at level 1 and broke. Be glad we get 4. The first version you only got one, 140x280 farm, that was 39,200 plots, we now have access to 156,800 plots AND all our currency. Personally I love the land expansion. You just have to plan accordingly.
