The FREE Bandlabs version is being updated and has many bug fixes, etc. but don't go to them with issues, other than logging a bug. They are doing you a big favor by continuing with Cakewalk...
BTW: You effectively get the Platinum package for free from Bandlabs, minus the second party plug-ins. As Pte Jack pointed out, your old plugins will work with Bandlab's release.
Bandlabs did not "allow you to use the software you already paid for".
You paid for what you already received and use, bugs, warts and all. Gibson licensed you the last version they would ever sell.
Bandlabs negociated for, and then took the code, worked on it, enhanced it, produced extensive bug fixes, gave you their efforts at no cost and upgraded you to a version you did not have before, etc. etc. etc.
I can understand your frustration at the way Gibson treated Cakewalk and all of their customers, but Bandlab has nothing to do with that.
If anything we owe Bandlabs a big thank you for their efforts and for making it free.
So yeah, people have done you a favor. If they had not you would have been SOL with no solution what-so-ever.
All software has a life cycle, look at programs that aren't available or just disappeared that cost big money back in the day, (ie Havard Graphics, Lotus Works, Corell Office, Microsoft DOS, Windows, Windows 3.1, XP, , Commander Keen, DOOM, StarCraft, Warcraft, FUSE for examples.) These were big ticket items in their day that reached their limit and died.
Companies made their money and were either bought out, folded or just let the programs die and support ended for them.
Either way, Sonar (and a much better version than X3) is still available, being developed and repaired and is free to use. And we can still use all the plugins we bought here on Steam with it.
You sure about that? Some of my plugins report that they won't launch in the Bandlab version of Sonar/Cakewalk and that they ONLY work with Sonar X3.
Other do load fine so for me it's been a mixed bag.
There is a setting that permits the 64bit versions to take precedence over the 32bit.
If I recall correctly the MP3 plugin is one of the ones that is specific with X3 and will not work with Bandlabs. Most of the Cakewalk plugins have been replicated in the Bandlabs release.

Some of the Delay/Distortion/Dynamics/EQ/Reverb etc. plugins are giving me this error message.
