This is a game of adversity. It will be worse when the ai starts playing and caps your mine

Oh no. It's so unfair. Now there is usually 1-3 iron deposits withing 10-15 hexes.

Usually.

actually I did find two sites close by but i mined them to exhaustion. Is the trick to wait until you have stone block masonry ilo timber to keep them up and running?

Thats usually a good idea. I use the units to gather until the source is close to exhaustion and then build the 'Iron Shaft Mine'.

that's not always the case. i have played out several games where i had no iron within 30 tiles.

and there's no need to be sarcastic. the answer was genuine and consistent with the game mechanics

simply put. after the first two maps or game starts all ferther maps are aprantly random so yep welcome to 4X type games wher key resorces can be very hard to find.

its a meant ot make the gmae harder and so more hcalanging. most find it just irritating true. but 4X player are not ment ot complain about bad map dessine lol

I find the caravan is good at making up for any shortages. After an upgrade or two (I forget how many), it should consistently have iron. I played a variant where I focused on buying raw resources and refining them just to see if it was viable, and it worked out pretty well.

Caravan doesn't even supply wood, and I've no idea how to make my miner actually mine deposits. Does nothing, and the game doesn't say why or what I need to sit my miner on instead.

I'm starting to thing this game was a mistake.

Miners build mines. It shows you that when you are on a title with the correct deposit.

I’ll agree that the tutorials are not good and the game is hard to learn. It’s built on an old school style of not holding your hand

However, if you don’t understand something as basic as mining iron, well you need to hop onto the YouTube and watch some let’s plays my friend because it’s not the game

Use the tooltips too. They all tell you what you need to do for each profession and resource. That's basically what the tutorial is.
