@Shrodu, they already add events that you can play a character for free in the weekend and get Blings which then you can save them to purchase character or other items that you might need.

Well, there are on the "News" tab here (even if it is from July). Not sure if they have stopped those events but if they are still on then that is the only way. Just be aware that if you already have all characters (as I am) then you won't be able to use that event opportunity.

Little late, but you can unlock all the characters for free by earning 3 stars and activating the treasure room roulette on any player castle your level or higher.
