I have created a mod to overhaul the fog settings to remove the blue haze, make some areas significantly more clear, and to make the game moodier / darker. This is done without any drawbacks, such as ruining the game's atmosphere or causing weird map pop-in issues. You also do not have to exit the game to edit a save file to change the current map.
