What type of controller? An Xbox 360 or Xbox One controller should be automatically detected as it's an xinput game. As for PS4 or Logitech, might have to use a 3rd-party thing like Joy2Key. The Steam Controller? Well I haven't tried it in ages, but last time I tried the game wouldn't detect it all, but that was a while ago.
