I have posted this in the pinned Dev thread as well, but the last time the Devs responded was more than a year ago, so I'm not holding my breath.
But maybe someone else has found a solution already.

Basically, like the title says, I have an Xbox One controller which works fine in other games, except, ironically, in this one where you're told to get real and use a gamepad...
And it doesn't work at all too, not just in menus or after the first level.
