This happens to me even in the regular game, on every stage bar the first. I absolutely love this game, but this is getting really quite irritating now.
Edit: I've managed to beat the challenge, but I had to switch to Keyboard controls. It took some getting used to, but the double jump worked every time.
If you haven't beat it yet, it's a fun one. ;)
Man, congratulations on beating it.
I've tried again, this time with keyboard controls, but the same happens. Rocket man can't double jump[en.wikipedia.org] during the challenge, can do during normal gameplay.
Edit: Correction, I can double jump reliably in Troublesome Tech and ????, but not the others (either very rarely or never at all).
Neither of those measures worked.
Edit: Mmm, I should try on other computers...
It was my computer acting all along. I tried playing the game on a friend's laptop (Windows 8.1, 64 bits) and I could double jump and, dozens of deaths later, I nabbed the achievement.
I still need to figure out why was my computer the culprit (Windows 7, 64 bits) but I can rule out issues with the XBOX 360 controller's drivers, given that using the keyboard gave me the same result.
Congrats. ;)
Sorry to revive an old thread, but looking through this is the only one I found talking about it, and I didn't want to make a new one.
This bug started happening to me on War of The Woods, on my 360 pad Rocket Man no longer double jumped. I tried keyboard and he did it just fine, no issues. I started mashing jump on the controller and sure enough, the double jump would come out if I pressed often enough, but that left me with an unreliable jump. Even my generic controller is having the same problem.
Ninja, however, could now triple jump. Troublesome Tech functions as normal, but Ninja becomes Super Ninja apparently in wooded environments. On keyboard, too, Ninja flips out like a boss.
Surpisingly, when I installed it on my Surface 3, everything worked fine. Even the weird triple jump is gone.
Here's where it gets even stranger - I tried uninstalling it from my Surface and streamed it from my desktop - and it worked fine. I even tried streaming it via desktop AND had the 360 pad connected to the desktop - and it still worked fine!
I've reinstalled the drivers, the game, Microsoft .NET framework, verified cache - I even deliberatly deleted the input dll's for the game and verified cache just to get it to redownload them, nothing works. The Surface is not an ideal solution, as I'd have 2 devices eating power. I've tried comparing the files, but literally the only difference I found were .NET Framework language packs - even copying those did nothing, but prompt an update for security issues, which of course still did not fix the problem. I'm at a complete loss, guys. What do?
