Did Nightdive lie? There's been NOTHING about SS2:EE for years, not even an update or anything.

Is it just me or is this game actually a downgrade compared to the original? Yeah, I've seen all the glowing reviews, I get that I'm in a minority here, but hear me out. How is this a better game? This is sort of a trivia question that probably only bothers me on the entire planet, but I still give it a shot. I'm sure everyone remembers the pack of hybrids (at least 6) running towards you when you leave the shuttle bays on the Command deck. If I remember correctly you can even avoid them by going on a different route, and then they won't spawn even if you go back to the same area. I'm about to play the game for the first time and not sure what difficulty I should choose. I complete Deus Ex on normal for the first time and I didn't expect the game to be so easy on this difficulty. So how different are this games in difficulty and what difficulty is better to choose? I would like the game to provide a challenge and have a vibe of survival horror, but not too difficult so as not to spoil the first experience of the walkthrough...
