Tried the game out but couldn't open the first door no matter what, said to use "x" on the pad but trying to configure the controls didn't help as there was a bigass list of options and none of them were particularly indicative.

You can try to bind the controls via the game's options menu. The controls were designed for quest 2 so I'd imagine they're not exactly optimized for windows MR, that said I do think some people have gotten it working on windows MR
