Like any complex game that has seen development build on itself for a decade (more than a decade in fact, getting close to 12 years), the tutorial is not bad; it's outdated and therefore not very useful except in learning the very basic concept.

For anything else, youtube is full of videos detailing this or that playthrough, with this or that country as well as even more tutorials (some that go very in depth) regarding literally any aspect of the game you can possibly conceive.
And when you see the amount of information that is crammed in tens of hours of video, it really becomes apparent why an in game tutorial could not really reach that level of explanation; or would you really run a 15 hours long tutorial?

What immortallis said. The tutorial was written 12 years ago for a base game that for all practical purposes no longer exists. Especially since the incorporation of the most important DLC into the main game a few months back

Yup. The tutorial is bad, somewhat broken, and has been for many years. I hope that it's fixed as part of a final bug patch before EU4 becomes abandonware.

Because players are too good. Or what others said.

...along with other start dates, I'm sure. You know as well as I do that's staggeringly unlikely, Marquoz, considering how much work would need to be done to get it working right. May as well strip the whole thing out and replace it with a brand-new tutorial in the last patch.

Honestly every paradox tutorial is bad, the best way to learn games like this is guides, videos or just playing the game and trying to learn it by yourself

But the reason is the same in the paradox world it's the game that never ends but is in a constant state of flux. Buy the time a pardox game is in it's 2nd or third year enough patches up dates and DLC have happened that the original tuturial for the orignal game is no longer valid because the original game for all practical purposes no longer exist

Oddly enough, the EU 1 tutorial was one of the best I've ever encountered. By itself it got me hooked along with teaching all the basics a player needed to know...
