Update 1.02b Patch Notes

🛠️ Fixes:

• USES bug: Units now correctly retain their uses across bosses.
  
• Reaver: Now correctly saves you from going below 2 health. It also no longer conflicts with Extra Life saves, Stasis Ring, killing the boss, multiple Reavers, and Medkits that bring you above 2.
  
• Terror Inc Squad: Now has the correct members.
  
• Mirror Demon: Damage is now correct (again).
  
• Dynamic Choices: Add To Militia choices in the Prologue and other mods like Banned are now dynamic, showing only what is available.
  
• Intro: No longer plays after the first level of the prologue has been won.
  
• No Help Mod: Tower of Retribution and other recruits that are supposed to be removed now are actually removed.
  
• Ooze: Destruction timing is quicker.
  
• Bookshelf: No longer sets itself for destruction on the first round if not near a human or demon.
  
• Custom Mode: Should now always unlock successfully after completing the prologue.
  
• Other various bug fixes

▶️ Additions:

• New Mod - Receive Reaver: After defeating a boss, they toss a Reaver into your militia.
  
• Reaver VFX/SFX: New visual and sound effects when Reaver is activated ☠️.
  
• Scientific Notation: If damage numbers exceed 1 sextillion (Qi), they will switch to scientific notation.

🔁 Changes:

• Biologist: No longer destroys books but reads them while permanently gaining base damage.
  
• Hydra: Increases its base damage if it OR adjacent monsters are marked for destruction.
  
• Phoenix: Now has an 85% chance to protect itself.
  
• Hustle Goblin: Permanently doubles its base damage if you deal more damage to a boss than before during this run; if not, the goblin loses 10% of its base damage. Goblin damage is not accounted for when comparing the most damage to a boss.
  
• Graveyard: Now gains bonus damage for every Human, Beast, Monster, Undead, Demon, or Plant that was ever marked for destruction.
  
• Grace Embrace Mod: Will only transform Humans, Demons, Beasts, and Monsters into Undead when they are in the front row.
  
• Recruiter: Will no longer recruit units of 'special' rarities or certain units in mods like Banned or other limited recruitment pools.
  
• Giant Bird: Now grants +2 bonus damage to adjacent units that are protected.

🏁🏳️ Campaign Balance Changes:

• Prologue Levels: Slightly easier.
  
• Code Name: Shrine Over Me: Starting squad now includes a Convention Hall, and the bosses' health was adjusted accordingly.
  
• Los Angeles: Boss curve has been slightly lowered.
  
• San Francisco: Number of bosses has been adjusted.
  
• Some Prologue Cities: Boss-health ramps were slightly lowered.

Million Monster Militia's brand new campaign takes you through 75 cities across America and newly-annexed Montreal.

Start on the East Coast, and work your way across the continent with a different challenge with each stop: at our nation's capitol, you'll start with the Element Squad - two Enchantresses, a Laser Frog, some Fire, and a Whale; and in Cleveland, your Undead turn on you, and heal the bosses instead of hurting them.

If you haven't played a Custom Game, this allows you to mix in everything from a starting squad of Holy Cows to bosses with a million health:

We've squashed a pesky bug that was messing up how big numbers looked in several spots:

• Boss Intro Health Number

Turns out, tracking down these number display glitches organically is not easy, since ya know, lots of numbers.

You can now mix and match 21 game modifiers in Custom Game Mode. Some of these are great together. Some of them are mutually-exclusive. Some of them are bad ideas: like, the mode that does your homework for you, but then the mode that eats your homework. Don't use those together.

Read on:

• Functionality: Units in the front row are transformed into a random undead unit.

• Functionality: After defeating a boss, players can send a column of units to hell.
  
• Reward: Gain a goat that inherits the total base damage of the sacrificed column.
  
• Bonus: The acquired base damage is also granted to every other goat in the player's militia.

• Feature: Players have 40 health.
  
• Key Change: Health levels no longer reset after each boss encounter.

• Benefit: Gold remains always protected throughout the game.

• Effect: At the start of the game, randomly remove all units of one specific type from the game.

• Functionality: Hellhounds in the game no longer self-destruct.

• Functionality: After defeating a boss, they toss a Nuke or Time Bomb into your militia.
  
• Impact: Introduces an additional layer of risk and strategy post-boss battles, demanding careful planning to mitigate the damage from these explosive surprises.

• Feature: Deploying a Dire Wolf adds another Dire Wolf to the militia.
  
• Benefit: This modifier effectively doubles the number of Dire Wolves each time you deploy, enhancing strategies that focus on these units and potentially leading to rapid militia expansion.

• Effect: All undead units use their damage to heal the boss instead of damaging it.
  
• Strategic Shift: This modifier completely changes the role of undead units in the game, turning them into support units for the boss rather than offensive units. Players need to carefully consider the use of undead units under this modifier.

• Change: Human units transform into a ghost or skeleton after deployment. (Priests, Paladins and IAO are immune to this effect)
  
• Implication: This modifier encourages a shift away from relying heavily on Human Type units or adapting to the new forms these units take upon deployment.

• Rule: Selecting a new unit to add to the militia results in that unit being removed from the game.
  
• Tactical Consideration: This modifier demands careful selection of new units, as each choice permanently affects the available unit pool. Players must strategize with a long-term view of their militia composition.

• Feature: Gain 15 gold in your militia after defeating a boss.
  
• Advantage: This modifier provides a significant boost to your resources, allowing for more strategic flexibility and unit upgrades.

• Effect: Always have a single EMP unit in every deployed militia.
  
• Strategy Shift: Ensures constant availability of EMP units, offering consistent utility and a stable element in your militia composition.

• Change: Fire units no longer mark themselves for destruction.
  
• Implication: Enhances the viability of fire-based strategies by increasing the longevity of fire units.

• Update: Water units no longer mark themselves for destruction.
  
• Benefit: Bolsters water-based strategies by allowing water units to remain on the field longer.

• Rule: All units, upon being selected, turn into the Human type.
  
• Tactical Consideration: This modifier encourages a shift towards human-centric strategies, transforming your militia's composition with each unit selection.
  Note: Cannot be active simultaneously with "VEGETARIAN".

• Functionality: All units, when selected, become Plant type.
  
• Strategic Shift: This modifier demands a rethinking of unit choices and synergies, pivoting towards plant-based strategies.
  Note: Cannot be active simultaneously with "HUMANITARIAN".

• Feature: Limit your militia to only Humans, Structures, Constructs, and Items.
  
• Challenge: This modifier narrows the scope of usable units, demanding creativity and strategic prowess with a restricted unit pool.

• Directive: Removes Medkit, Sacrificial Spam, Extra Health, Doctor, and Extra Life from the game.
  
• Implication: Increases the difficulty by eliminating key support and survival options, requiring players to adapt their strategies for sustainability without these aids.

• Effect: Acquire 50 rerolls and never gain another one throughout the game
  
• Implication: Tradeoffs between control over early picks or control over later picks (and synergy with… certain units).

• Effect: Gain an addition REROLL each round
  
• Implication: more control over your picks, more consistent militias!

• Grey Goo now transfers damage when transforming
  
• Siphon now works properly

• Added mouse wheel support to the modifier scroll window for enhanced navigation.
  
• New sound effects
  
• Added total lifetime damage stat to units (see in Your Militia)

Minor update for today—version 0.91.4 brings these QoL items:

• Abbreviation of large numbers. Dealing 4,031,301,688 points of damage? It'll show up as 4.03B.
  
• Health readout displays a number beyond 9 health so that you're not seeing a pile of ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️s.
  
• The Mimic now takes the damage of the highest-damage unit on the battlefield instead of just adjacent units.
  
• The Dog Catcher now also collects Panthers and Giant Rats. Its laser eye lens has a smudge on it, and it can't tell the difference.
  
• The Hustle Goblin now doubles its damage if you do the most damage ever. It halves its damage if you do not, but won't go below 1 damage.
  
• The Internal Affairs Officer can now "super-protect" a unit. Using that ability will remove it from your Militia immediately.

It’s worse than the Hell-Goats—it's Lawyers!

Can you win the game starting with 4 Lawyers in your squad? You'll need to be careful about the Giant Rats they bring with them. But don’t lose hope—you can fight back with two new units, and practice your strategies in the Custom Game mode.

Practice in your very own Holodeck by selecting the exact number of bosses and the health curve. Who will be the first to win against a boss with 10 million health?

You may notice that Jon's stuck a few dimmed-out panels on the right. That's for the future—the real reason we're doing Custom Game right now is so that we can add in a bunch of modifiers and starting squad and test them out in advance of introducing them to the missions.

Later this month, on our Discord, we'll hold a vote to see which of this updates new pieces we want to destroy for good. So, what are they?

Two new RARE ones: the dangerous Enchantress and the alluring Siphon. Or are those reversed? No, we're going with that.

• The Enchantress - Mark adjacent Water, Fire and Steam for destruction. For each, increase a random deployed unit’s Base Damage by +1. If this happens, randomly add 1 Water, Fire, or Steam to the Militia.
  
• The Siphon - Marks all like-units for destruction. if not protected, transfer all their base damage to the Siphon.

Again, we plan to murder one of these. It's up to you which.

Defeat any mission with the Frog Squad and unlock the Lawyer Squad. This is an interesting one, our first all-rare starting squad, opening up play styles and strategies.

Lawyer: Gains permanent +2 base damage whenever its multiplier or bonus damage are boosted. If fewer than 3 Giant Rats are deployed, 10% chance to add one to your militia.

Just watch out for the rodents.

• Gold: Increased base damage to adjacent units by +1.
  
• Silver: Now grants +1 to bonus damage to adjacent units.
  
• Strength Serum: Now provides +5 bonus damage.
  
• Ascetic: Transforms into a Civilian when one-shotting a boss.
  
• Gold Dragon: Has a global reach for Gold and Silver units.
  
• Slight increase to overall boss health curve to compensate for new units and balance changes.
  
• Strength Serum was only adding in-round damage.
  
• Whiskey now correctly interacts with Constructs.
  
• Fixed a bug where loading from savegame could continue playing music from the intro.
  
• Fixed a bug where the flashing log marquee was showing after players already selected it.
  
• Alchemist was incorrectly duplicating transformed pieces.
  
• And assorted others!

We have received a report from the frontlines - the invasion has entered a new phase, and we’ll need to adapt to the changes accordingly.

Today, we release our first major update for Million Monster Militia. This update contains a new unit (the GOAT), new missions, and a whole bunch of quality of life improvements, balance changes, and bug fixes.

• The GOAT (Demon/Special) - Appears in Mission 3 with the Send to Hell modifier. Each GOAT receives the total damage of every unit you send to Hell, this happens accumulatively through out the mission. Sadly, GOATs cannot be sent to Hell themselves.

• Modifiers Introduction: We're introducing a new mission modifier called "Send to Hell." Upon defeating each boss, your militia will undergo redeployment, and you will have to choose a column of units to send to Hell. As a reward for this daring decision, 1 GOAT will be added to your militia. Notably, each time you send units to Hell, all the GOATs in your militia will accumulate the base damage of the consigned units, continually bolstering their own strength.
