Arcane Assembly feels more like a proof of concept than a complete, polished product. The code-block magic-scripting system is absolutely amazing and with clever programming can result in some insanely overpowered spells. I only wish the rest of the game matched its quality, or even took advantage of it in any inventive way. The world is bland and mostly built out of asset packs, the enemies are as brain-dead as they come, character and camera movement is very basic and unpolished, and there is barely any story. The awesome spell-coding system is only used to deal more damage to enemies, but never in any clever or memorable way, like requiring a custom spell to solve a puzzle or to dispatch a specific tricky foe.
And yet, I still recommend everyone try this, if only for its brilliant magic system.
