When I first finished this game, I felt really happy to finally have played and beat through it all with minimal spoilers. I truly loved my time with it, but I had a tough time really grasping how it was claimed to be such a masterpiece by the online fanbase. After some reflecting and seeing other perspectives online, I truly think this game is a brilliant piece of art, that does exactly what video games should do. Video Games are to be a fun and goofy escapism, but they should allow themselves to take a look at the bigger picture of the world around them, allowing the player to understand new perspectives on any given topic. Metal Gear Rising really hammers down this with its exciting gameplay, beautifully created boss battles, and a narrative that I was never expecting in a million years about the cycle of violence and how the spoils of war will always bring about new conflict and resolutions.
