I love the game.. the tactics, the planning, the min maxing, the pivoting away from non ideal situations. It is very crunchy and enjoyable. I built one to see what it did. What it did was...pretty much nothing. It's +1 AP on the planet you build it on. Now, +1 AP can be pretty good, sometimes, in low-energy regions. However, the power generator is enormous. It covers 13 tiles. On most planets where it's even possible to build it, it isn't possible to build anything else alongside it. So you need the extremely rare confluence of a planet in a low energy zone that has a near-maximal usable area and retains sites worth working on (resources or...

I don't trust that I have a perfect memory of which structure blueprints I have, and it's vitally important to planning out the opening turns when you haven't yet explored any planets so you can't use the location UI to view your build lists. If there's a way to check this, I haven't noticed it....

sorry if thats stupid but when i put a resource excavator on a resource tile depth 1 it just blocks this tile and doesnt go away making that tile inaccesible. is there some trick to remove that excavation ? its still there after 6 turns now
