Anyone looking to make new maps?
Some of the map editor features are being improved greatly. I'm curious if there are other map makers who are looking at making new maps. If interested, reply so we can get talking about your thoughts :)

Hello. Here's one map maker. If i got inspiration (and spare time...) i'm going to try if i can create map. I'm not too familiar with UnEpic Map editor, but i hope that pineapple can learn new tricks :happymeat:

I also Pinned this thread.

Yeah i am it's just with the steam sales going on and my visits to the hospital i don't have much time atm. Will be picking it up though.
I'm pretty interested in making maps, though I haven't unlocked any features cause it's a pain to find a co-op level 1.
Hai.

I am tinkering, trying to make the best of the current toolset to make a "proper" coop type map, where most rooms contain separate paths and simultaneous puzzles and the like.
I was really upset about a bug that erased the map i spent hours making, but the last patch seems to fix a lot of bugs i was facing when mapping, so i will probably start again anytime soon after the sales.

Pablo, I felt the same way. I will say this. The tutorial I was working on took me 10 hours to do what I could. With the new patch I was able to get further in 2 hours. Much less pain. You can test it too if you'd like.

When you're done with your map and looking to test, we're creating a small architect place on the official website for us to share knowledge, maps, etc.

Ask there or here if you have any questions.

were can you get a hold of this map maker cuz i loved to do some maps and stuff !!!?
Me and a couple of my friends were super interested in at least trying our hands at making some dungeons. It looks like an incredibly in-depth system, with just... absurd and lofty possibilities. BUT once we found out that making a dungeon would involve hundreds if not thousands of hours of gridning out playing the game, almost everyone just threw their hands in the air and shrugged as we moved on to play other games.

Have you guys considered an unlimited creation set? I think you'd see an insane volume of creators generating a huge buzz for not just the game, but their dungeons and a playing and creating community with as much if not more customization and share potential as Minecraft.

I can see how making a dungeon out of your thousands of hours ot play is inticing, but as it is now, I just cannot imagine enough people doing it. (Which is a shame, because the tools are incredibly powerful.)

(If I'm just unaware of some already existing editor, I'd love to hear about it! I'll admit to a fair amount of ignorance of out-of-game community etc.)

The problem with grinding is that there isn't enough content by default to keep people interested in farming the materials....so I agree it should be something that anyone can do right out of the gate.
What a tragic name that that message, but I agree wholeheartedly.

Maybe at least have it be an unlock system whereby players unlock the ability to use more and more stuff and once they finish all of the vanilla levels, they can just build freely. (This way they see examples of good content and get some ideas and experience under their belt before being given the keys.) (So, rather than needing to grind out 10 jade cats to get the number of lights I want in 2 screens I just have infinite lights once I unlock the ability to get them.)

Also - that way people can play the game, love it, and start working on a passion project or something right away instead of saying 'well crap, I want like 40 goblins on this level but I don't feel like playing that same dungeon 20 times,' or 'I'd love light fixtures in more places, but I just can't bring myself to do another 10 runs.' etc.

I think you run the risk of discouraging builders, or making for worse end products by forcing the grind onto people who may not even be traditional players.

While I understand the premise behind the example... the grind is definately exaggerated. For example.. if you unlock a goblin for 2 jade cats... you can put indefinate goblins on your level. It unlocks the tools and if it's unlocked you can use it indefinately for editing.

Despite the exaggeration, I'll see about giving these concerns some visability to Fran.

I started making one, waiting to buy everything to continue tho, also would love to have access to the other end-game (halls/necro area) and outside (like cemetary, garden) backgrounds.

Also an option to destroy every walls in the room and chest activated traps.

Wuld it be possible to have open-aired background also like the sherwood graveyard map in the beginning ? Also, there are types of ennemies that aren't available to place in the dungeons, will they be available at some point ?
