Uplay changed?

Unfortunately, the game EXE has "connection to Ubisoft servers" hard-coded in. It will always give an error, it will always attempt to launch "connect." But the program executables can be run even with those errors occurring. In single-player-mode only.

This is awful for preservation...

As a general rule, Ubisoft (for the past decade and a half, at least) has, itself, been "terrible for preservation."

And let's not ignore the fact that STEAM ITSELF is pretty "terrible for preservation."

There are always ways around these issues... but the typical person who bought and paid for a game will be unable, or at least unwilling, to jump through all those hoops. And, of course, the vendors will claim that doing things which allow you to retain what you paid for is somehow "illegal," but in reality, taking away something you paid for is, itself, illegal. So, those who would say such a thing are, themselves, the real "villains of the story."

And yes, this trend, like so many others in the "software world," originated with Redmond Washington, and spread out like cancer from there. The moment that Microshaft was permitted to ignore the results of federal judgments against them and keep doing the same things they'd been convicted of doing, the concept of "enforcement of consumer rights" in this world because... dubious, at best.

So, when (AND ONLY WHEN) someone does something along those lines, "high seas behaviors" become entirely justified... for those who have actually paid for the product which has been taken away from them. It's not "theft" when you take back something someone else stole from you.

I've been banned in discussions several times for suggesting the same thing and speaking in similar terms. Just a heads up.

Thanks guys. THis has been very eye-opening for me. I am never buying a Ubisoft product ever again.
No. We must b forcing 2 use this ubi launching which is sucks (also may I pls add that this UBI launcher just did a stealth launching on my PC unit for this specific game Far cry 3 Blood dragon, a game i quite ENJOYED I may add 2 any1 reading, and which I did not notice until some uplay msg popped up...... wat kind of puzzle riddler trickery is this?!)

is not fun, all this silly errors and this that other with these launchers too!

But it is what it is we have 2 deal with this thing launchering on us like it is our daddy or I guess 1 can just say no to the launcher daddy by not playing the games they making BUT then we miss out on some EPIC games (mostly the older legendary games made by the Ubi ppls like this Blood Dragon and AC2 Ezio and some few others ofc).

Hopefully the corporate overlording ppls of UBIsoftwares will just work with the rest of the overlord ppls to make 1 unified launcher and then they can make even more billions of money while keeping us all happy........ but that is a fools dream but I am your fool so i dream of this better dayz
