Godus
Memory exception (11) crash *FIX*
TLDR; play the game offline :)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello!
I recently went to fire up Godus for some relaxing downtime, (as I'm a sucker for the game, regardless of all the things wrong with it and it's history) and the game just kept crashing on me. I checked the crashlog and got the following message:

S3E runtime Crashlog
--------------------

System Information:

SDK Version : 7.4.2p1 [411064] (S3E ABI v4.39.0)
OS : WINDOWS (3)
OS Version : Windows 6.2 (6.2)
Device ID : Windows Desktop (2)
Device Class : (3000)

Crash Information:

Memory exception (11) attempting to access: 00040000 [ip=109216C0]

I'm well aware that this issue has come up for people in the past, and I tried following the instructions of the following discussion: (which I'm very grateful for, but tragically the solutions didn't work for me)
https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/app/232810/discussions/0/558752449915520092/ (shoutout to PK1's comment on page 3)

Anyway, after trying to find some more solutions I came across a comment on a random discussion talking about the game crashing upon launch. the crash was different to the issue I was having, but someone in the comments suggested that the game may be crashing because it tries to download information from the Godus servers (or something like that).

After hearing this, I thought of trying to play the game while in offline mode, to stop the game from attempting to connect to the servers. This ended up fixing it, and I can now play the game again with no quams.

I'm not too sure if this issue is caused by the fact that the game is no longer on the steam store / is not being supported anymore, (which would be terrible seeing as that would mean they lied when they said we could still play the game as normal) or if it's just **another** glitch that just tends to happen. In any case, I hope this helped! I'm curious to see if other people had this issue after the game was removed from the store. NGL a bit disappointing you have to disconnect from the internet in order to play a video game. :/

So did you play the game in offline mode by going to the Steam menu and selecting Go Offline, or was there something further that you did?

I just turned WIFI off on my computer, but I'm sure this would give the same result. Just as long as the game isn't trying to connect to the servers i think. :)
