No player models, all players just red
Hey guys,
So I just downloaded nQuake to play Quakeworld and I haven't bought Quake yet. The game itself works fine but there are no Player Models, everyone is just red, and the guns show up, but they have a green shield around them always. I only get player models when I play the QTF mod.
Can I download the models somewhere or do I need to buy the game?

By default nQuake is set up for high-visibility player skins, since it's a package that is normally used for multiplayer.

I think you should be able to use the menus to change things to look the way you like, but you can also use the console to set some things if you're comfortable with that.

Note that if you make any menu changes or use the console, be sure to then use the menus to save your config (unless you have autosave-on-quit enabled).

These settings should give you the classic Quake player skins:
noskins 1 r_enemyskincolor "" r_teamskincolor ""

These settings will give you color-tinted skins for team and enemy (not the pure solid color that nQuake defaults to):
noskins 2 enemyskin "red" r_enemyskincolor "" teamskin "white" r_teamskincolor ""

And if you want to switch back to the nQuake default:
noskins 2 enemyskin "red" r_enemyskincolor "255 0 0" teamskin "white" r_teamskincolor "255 255 255"


BTW you will actually still need to buy the game if you want to play on the standard DM maps.

Oh and for the item pickups problem, I'm not sure what you're describing there. Maybe post a screenshot of that?
