N++ does not start; fix or help appreciated
Hello,
I recently bought N++ and I've been looking to play it for a while, however upon installing the game and clicking "launch," the game has never started up. What happens is that the game brings up a white screen for a few seconds, then the game defaults to a black screen with a white bar on the top of the screen, and also along the left side of it. I can't close out of this window (alt+tab and hitting the X does nothing, also the window supercedes all other windows so Task Manager is invisible), so the only way to fix the issue is to sign out using control+alt+delete.

I've tried reinstalling the Visual C++ Redistributible files included in the game, verifying the game cache, changing the compatibility mode of the .exe to both Windows 7 and Windows 8 (to no avail), and adding the --noLog parameter. Nothing has worked to fix the game. The game doesn't seem to put anything in the log file inside of the Documents folder, however it does succeed in creating the file.

My computer is an HP Envy laptop running Windows 10, with an AMD FX-8800P quad-core processor and an integrated AMD Radeon R7 graphics chip with OpenGL version 4.5 installed, so the issue of OpenGL not being able to create an instance shouldn't be a problem. I also tried to update my graphics drivers, and no updates were found.

I'm at my wits end. I really want to play this game, and I want to try as much as possible to make it work. I'm also willing to post screenshots if necessary. Thanks for your help.

EDIT: after lurking in the bug reports on assembla, I found this, which is exactly like my issue: https://app.assembla.com/spaces/nplusplus/support/tickets/625
The anon never says how the issue was fixed, though.

I have also posted a ticket for this on assembla, which is this: https://app.assembla.com/spaces/nplusplus/support/tickets/718

Wow, I'm sorry about this; we don't know how the other person's game got fixed either :/

So, nothing's being written to NPPlog.txt? That's pretty weird. Are there any crash dump files generated? (Something like "n++_168_crash_2017_1_9T22_56_43C0.mdmp" in the local folder that Steam installed the game to)
There could be a problem with Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable, try uninstalling (x64) and (x86) from Windows application list, restarting your computer and reinstalling both from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784

I tried to install the x64 and x86, nothing has actually happened and it still has a black screen

Hi there, I have the same issue, just bought the game, launching it, having the splashscreen, then nothing... Trying to check my VC++ redist, but I'm not sure it is the problem... Is there any kind of Log File I could check to see what is going wrong during the launch ?
Thank you

So I've uninstalled VC++ 2013 redist / rebooted / installed latest (english) versions (same version numbers that I had) for both x64 and x86 / rebooted / Launched the game and ... same issue : nothing after the splashscreen.
Is there something to do before asking for a refund...
(I was so happy to find back this game, I played the flash version years ago...)

The game doesn't crash for me, but the sprites become warped and the screen turns black from selecting most menu options. Can't really navigate anything.

Also crash btw short blackscreen and then the game is ending.

// The game is running with [Compatibility with [In screen resolution 640 x 480 execute]]

The solution mentioned in the article sent by the author fixed it for me, I didn't restart Windows after installing again, sorry that I can't help more, I thought giving my experience as well since I found this game perfect on my Rog Ally X

Can't be, other games run without problems. And I see uninstalling it just because of the game as a "problem shift" rather than a solution.
