Murderous Psychopaths Needed
How would you like to immortalize your fighter and bring pain on thousands of players who'd curse your name with their characters' dying breath?

Our next update will add several title challengers. You see, being the Arena Champion doesn't mean that the title is yours forever and ever. It will attract those who seek fame - who wouldn't want to brag that they killed the champion and stomped him into the mud?

So if you're a murderous psychopath with at least 100 confirmed kills, post your combat build (character screen and inventory). We'll select the most interesting builds and faithfully recreate them down to the hair style. Maybe we can even talk our artist into drawing a custom portrait (based on the hair style not what you look like in real life) to capture that murderous fire in your eyes and Vince into writing a backstory.

- We'll keep the looks, stats, and skills.
- We might change the name to be more lore friendly. I'm sure that Balls Stomper is a great name but...
- We'll keep the equipment except for unique weapons and sky metal. Crafted equipment will keep their crafting level but it will be done with blue steel instead of sky metal. Uniques will be replaced by crafted weapons or new uniques.
- The challengers will be able to use poison, sharpened weapons, neurostymulants, antidotes, nets and bolas.

Looking forward to your submissions.

~120 confirmed kills here, but I used a pretty standard 10 dex 6(!) dagger/8 cs/dodge build. Still, I'll post shots once I'm home later and edit them into the post. :summerghost:

Thats at 79 without breaking a sweat. I only just got to the second city and started the arena. I stopped playing because I was waiting for release. Now I will restart all over hopefully after you guys IMPROVE the GUI. I need to be able to scale some of the stuff so I can see without squinting!

Hopefully I qualify haha.

Just got to the second city and already killed 79 people? You show much promise in the psychopathic arts.

Haha yah I didnt even have any of those fancy blades or anything I keep hearing about. Although I think I picked up some cool stuff outside of the arena in town. Little sad that I have to restart over but........it was very enjoyable. Umm maybe I did sweat just a tad, some of those battles I had were brutal. I think I remember running around town bleeding out while I was being chased and trying to take some of the bandits out through doorways one at a time hehe.

Weak but skilled. Will, has and does use every dirty trick available. Poisoned weapons, bombs to throw people on their @sses, nets, bolas, naughty words.

Collects the swords of defeated foes. Makes a fine scolopendra roast.

I guess everyone who has that Malaria achievement can brag about in this thread. Dagger-CS assassin is my regret.

I'd love to see a javelin thrower that uses nets or bolas if you get too close and runs away.

Would love to chase that b@stard around the arena.

What yah mean Clown? What Malaria achievement and why is Dagger a regret? I didnt get to far but I was doing well with dagger.

AXA I like your stats I might try it that way. I was admit my dex was really high got me out of a bunch of scrapes but I always wanted to be smarter.

I gleamed something about having to have a high constituion for some God ending that I wasnt familiar with either soooo kinda wish there was a way of getting what you want on one guy.

I actually used dagger and nets. Nets came in handy a few times when I was getting overrun.

Cool idea, here is my build, I didn't make this character with combat in mind, but he ended up killing a lot of people...

Awesome :D

The game lacks two-handed hammer users. One dodger with hand-crafted armor and as less armor penalty as possible would be nice. Quintilius the Skull-crusher was the name I gave to a similar character that killed over 125 people in older versions of the game.

Another interesting one would be an alchemist that threw stuff, drank potions and poisoned you at the same time.. I haven't met many enemies that made use of the good alchemical items, and that's a shame.

This hybrid build can beat the crap out of every encounter in Teron and also do every miniquest available and get all artifacts and resources available for a Mercenary only resorting to peaceful solutions thee times because it brings extra SP/gold/other profits (Livia & friends, the bandits vs. the Aurelians, the angry noble, lord Antidas => Kingmaker). The key to all victories was carefully developed tactics, proper weapon and armor choice, and proper attack choices against different opponents; in extreme cases what can help a lot is liquid fire, poison, nets, and bolas, they just cost a lot and are a rare resource. Also, don't forget to do all available quests (= get maximum SP) before the toughest fights (in Teron that's Miltiades servants, and perhaps the outpost fight and the throne room massacre if you don't convince someone else to do it for you or pick a different solution). Once you make your way through Teron life gets easier as you're going to accumulate more and more SP owing to Int 9. Later I'll have another play-through with a revised version of this build with Int 10.

Below is this same build right at the end of the game. Provided you know the combat system and the tactics and the sources of SP perfectly there will only be three high-difficulty fights in the game: the above mentioned two servants of Miltiades, Al-Sazir, and Belgutai. Still I managed to reserve almost all expendable resources for the final fight.

Certain game mechanics have changed since then (that is, archers can shoot through obstacles) and Al-Sazir became a bit meaner, still it's all doable.

I positively could repeat this success with a throwing build, a sword build, a dagger build, only altering my stats and play-through routes slightly, I can state that Teron fights are certainly beatable with any kind of weapon.

Ended with ~213 dead bodies as Thief... I think ~220 is max without cheesy things =P
