Age of Decadence, like life, does not cater to the way you want to do things. You have to do things its way, or go elsewhere.
Instead of asking for opinions from people you don't know and whose insight you can't evaluate, download the demo which is located on the right-hand side of the store page, about a third of the way down, and see for yourself.
The demo is the complete first chapter of the game, and demo saves can be loaded into the full game if you end up deciding that you like it.
An important thing that comes with the demo is a combat trainer, which lets you get a taste of how to handle the different kinds of weapons. Unlike a lot of other games, you'll quickly discover that different kinds of weapons require different skills and tactics. If you like to win fights by button-mashing, you'll hate Age of Decadence. But if you find yourself worrying about the tactical difference between two kinds of dagger, you're probably hooked. The weapons aren't just funny names that inflict different numbers of hit points: you need to use them differently. They give you a lot of hints about how things actually work, so pay attention.
Now you should spend some time in the combat trainer and figure out how to win all three fights with a couple of different weapons.
You should probably spend some time doing that even if you have no intention of playing a fighter (best way to come out of a fight in one piece is not to get involved in it in the first place).
Unlike some games, putting skill points in dodging AND blocking is a bad idea. Do one or the other, and use the trainer to see how you like the difference between blocking with a shield, or not using a shield and dodging. If you want to use a two-handed weapon you'll need to be able to dodge.
You missed the part of real life where you actually DO have the option to do whatever you want, consequences and all. AoD just sucks. Any game that actively tries to make fun of you for 'typical rpg hero' actions is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Whoever wrote this ♥♥♥♥ was obviously the outcast during all his highschool days.
Play something else, and don't bother going near the Kingdom Come Deliverance games because you'll hate them too.
Negative opinions are just as valid and welcome as positive ones. Echo chambers are bad.
