That's a very difficult question to answer because beyond "both are action RPGs" they don't have much in common.

i havent played nordics yet, but since you are comparing 2 action rpgs that are pretty different from each other, i would say buy this game in case you really love or are interested in detective stories or the megaten world (smt, megaten, devil summoner, etc)

you get to know the characters more and more throughout the series and you explore the same world, even if its not connected 100% story wise its still more about experiencing a journey

I haven't played this one yet (I played the sequel back on the PS2, very neat game), but Ys X was pretty fun. It felt a bit weak compared to 9 and especially 8, but I guess that's why it's getting the re-release later this year, which you should wait for. The soundtrack especially felt rushed compared to 8 or 9, which is usually where Falcom games typically shine.

If you haven't played Ys 8, definitely play that one first. That's peak action/adventure JRPG.
