I can 100% see Savant Ascent Remix having become a cult classic if it released at the height of arcade games.

You play as a mechanical wizard referred to as The Alchemist making a way up to his tower to reclaim powers and knowledge.

…or so I got from the old game version’s store page, as the game features only a handful of cutscenes, and with no explanation behind them you’ll be left making your own headcanon of what’s happening.

If you want something resembling a progression curve, I suggest you play Classic mode first.

Simple arcade-y game.
You have a left and right platform you’ll be switching between to avoid enemies’ attacks while you blast them with your own homing shots, unlocking powers as you ascend the tower.

It’s a very interesting on-rails shooter, something barely ever seen, so if you wanted something fresh you’ve found it.

Action is stripped to the bare essentials; in other games you’d have to struggle against the controls trying to precisely platform and frustratingly try to lead the shot against fast moving enemies.
Savant is having none of that and magnetizes your character where you want to be so you can completely focus on the game itself.

Pixel art is amazing, and design is inventive, you’ll be “wowed” by the game left and right.
Not really a downside but something that overrides a positive of this title is how fast everything moves coupled how zoomed out from the sprites stuff is, makes the amazing pixel art into a blur unable to be properly appreciated while you’re playing.

There’s not much to say other than the game is unique and good, the price may not be worth it if you only plan to play through it once, but it’s an arcade game at heart meant to be played over and over to get better and try to 1cc it.
Very recomanded, go get it.
