A) ready, or
B) actually going to release anything
I'd love to have it back as much as anybody, but it's not going to happen.
I hadn't heard of the first one though - nexus drop. It looks like he's making a lot faster progress than ember, and the game looks much more professional in my opinion. Worth keeping an eye on. Thanks for sharing.
NexusDrop dev and Respark devs talked in reddit, some random asked them to join forces and Respark said that they are working on the servers/online infrastructure more than the actual game. So ofc the game/play looks like infant stages. Also I hope nobody buys it, because I want it to be free to play from the get go
And yeah I agree on Nexus vs em8er, Mark (em8er) are scammers so they won't launch that ♥♥♥♥ and it's been years and thousands of money drained. People shared their experiences (like 1500$ donator) and so on. That they asked for refunds because of internal stuff. That project is a scam from day 1. Just like FireFall became a cashgrab, imagine paying $ for what was free at the start like paint jobs lmao.
Thanks for reading and take care <3.
True, it's not ready. But in your case I'd say don't loose hope. Because when people come together they can achieve great things. Like Wukong lol, 30 people started developing that game and it has become a meme on how greater it is than other AAA games.
Though yeah I haven't spoken to Respark dev/s yet, so I can't share any stories of their dedication but it's at least 3 years. I'll try to figure out about how close are they to at least alpha tests with the public, would be something nice.
Also Respark is open world, NexusDrop is opposite. Nexus dev told me that it's easier to balance and work on basically stability-wise so if one of them pops, then NexusDrop will be first probably. Things will pick up the pace once he (main dev) finishes the core of the game, then he'll hire people.
"closed beta prob in about a year if progress doesnt slow down. early acces cant predict for now." - NexusDrop
"Hey! So we are not a FF clone, more of a spiritual successor. We are aiming for a similar art style and similar, but expanded gameplay. We have our own story that I have/am writing and when parts of it are released you will likely find some nice familiarity, but we have our own characters, locations, etc. It's a whole new map that we are creating too.
We are considering crowd funding, but only AFTER a solid beta is established. We have a donation setup through patreon currently, which grants extras here in the discord server.
For a closed Alpha honestly we are only waiting on the networking, we will likely do some small day playtests after the networking is done to test it and follow up with an extended closed Alpha after the build is stable. This could be later this year possibly, but don't quote me." - Hunter5683 from Respark.
Also lmao, Nexus dude in their discord. He wrote to them when I told him about the switch in the engines as he told me it was Unity and now he knows that it's UE5 from me. But DANG, I thought it would be at least a couple of years before any of them released anything solid for the tests/public.
"Yes, PC specs will hopefully be kept low around GTX 1050 level GPU at minimum, with being in UE5 we will see if we can maintain that goal, but with the recent efficiency updates it looks like we will be able to.
We are hoping to make it F2P, but it will entirely depend on our situation at launch, if it is not F2P then it will be priced like a indie games usually are.
We are currently trying to keep a little low key, but we will push publicly eventually." - Hunter5683, Respark
So get ready guys, we gonna be thumping once again and pretty soon. Got excited ngl.
Who knows...maybe we'll get a new firefall inpired/spiritual succesor game before getting a fix for game itself an making it playeble again with all of the options and mehcnics...
Me, I'm too used to indie MMO projects etc failing and unfortunately Tencent owns the rights, so there will be f*ckery. But it's lovely to see so many wanting more Firefall.
And yeah, I do miss the best days of the beat back when we had a rainbow of crystite types and a ton of flexibility in building gear. Plus OCT was so much fun, even if the map needed adjusting badly due to the gameplay changes lawl.
Not as broken as Harvester though, mind you, that made for some very, very fun games when you got two teams who knew what to do :3 And how to be extremely evil with AoE ultimates lawl.
Oh and ♥♥♥♥ Mark Kern, mind you he's very, very salty at the moment on all the well deserved flak he's getting for how ♥♥♥♥ the recent Em-8-er "vertical slice" is. Along people rightly pointing out his "history"...
Anyhow, I do hope both projects succeed, even if history is negging us all.
That is the current route. As China owns FireFall IP and I doubt it would be any good, they tend to do cash-grabs and close down the projects. Just like meme crypto coins lmao. And the internet is pretty much silent about OG FireFall. So spiritual successors from people who loved playing FF is upcoming, hopefully without any lawsuits.
Also I found another project that I will update this thread with, actually maybe even 2. But yeah these that I've shared about are actually happening right now and anybody who wants can speak to devs directly without needing any privileges hehe. And the wait for them is not that long, I really thought it would take way longer. Since em8er scam is going for like 7-8 years now.
the game will be open world multiplayer but i will be using sessions/shards instead of a persistant server. the current aim would be 80 people but that is due the the current map size witch will be expended.
this will be more achieveable and manageable then a true mmo and persistent server.
I've been on the Respark discord for like years, there is very little progress, for example i checked in earlier and it's just the same old ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and zero realistic progress that they can show anyone. I love those guys, but I don't see them finishing.
That's f*cking stupid dude. we don't want shard bullsh*t, we want a true MMO and a persistent server.
Are you going to pay for the server hardware? That's quite an expense for a single person.
