Questions about server hosting
I have a server with a hosting company. I bought StarForge on Steam. I can only be logged into Steam on one computer at a time. How can I host a dedicated server and also log into that server to play from my laptop?

Hi Toby,

I run a dedicated server off my gaming machine, and simply connect to it locally, but all in all the challenges remain the same.

It seems as though what you're asking is: using your hosted server you'd like to run a StarForge server and connect to it with your laptop.

This wouldn't be that tough in a home setting, but if you have a hosted server you would need the Hosting company to forward the port to your server -- this is unlikely to happen. They don't often change network configurations on shared resources.
No man. It's MY server. The hosting company leaves all ports open. It has a public (dedicated) IP address. I control the ports via the software firewall settings.
I have a server box too and I copied my starforge install to it and can get the server to run however it does not show in the client browser. They really need to make it so it runs without a steam account logged in (for the dedicated server) if this is the issue.
All of our dedicated servers run without a steam account logged in. In order to run a server without a steam account you must start a dedicated server. Follow this wiki page to run a dedicated server. Hope this helps, sorry for the late response.

You can copy the StarForge files to your server computer. Also to make sure your game shows up in the lobby make sure that the Configuraton/ServerSettings.cfg has the isPrivate property set to false.
Thank you for the reply, got everything working now.
