I've been attempting this level solo for the last hour or so, I've come to the conclusion that this is clearly not designed with the single player experience in mind. Its very easy getting from the start to one of the switches, and even getting from that switch to the exit, however reaching the 2nd switch from the opposite side of the map before the lights come back on seems to be basically impossible without getting caught by Bacteria.
