It's okay, though I wouldn't grab it for above $15. Unfortunately, I'd still rather be playing Stardew Valley than this. Stardew Valley just does almost everything better than this game. Even it's basic combat is more entertaining than Mirthwood's wonky combat. Wait for this game to open a workshop first. Let the game cook a bit more.

*Wonky Combat
*Social System is somewhat similar to the sims, but very basic. It's not engaging and only serves as a purpose to recruit them for this and that.
*NPCs look ugly.
+NPCs look too similar to one another, regardless of gender. I struggle to figure out if it's a male or female. I hate to be the guy to say this, but maybe touch up on their feminine looks. Even Rimworld's npcs are more distinguishable than this.
*Inventory system is so frustrating and unnecessary. Just give me x total slots and let them sit together. Why do I need to only have x slots for x-type of item? Items also autosort in inventory, which isn't normally a bad thing, but I can't set the pickaxe to be next to the axe. This forces me to scramble through the wheel to find the right tool, when instead I can simply have the 2 most used tool next to eachother.
*Dialogue repeats back when making dialogue choices. Gets repetitive and annoying overtime.
*Fishing can use a rework.
*Crops can't be auto harvested when holding down the gather button. For some unknown reason, mining and wood-chopping can though.
*Recommend removing material requirement for fast travel and just fast forward time instead as a cost, depending on the distance.
*Starting traits/origins/etc. can use a rework.
*Heavy lack of tutorial
*Add a pause to the game when viewing storages and crafting tables

Game just isn't fun. I've played for about 2 days and I already feel like dropping out. Maybe it just isn't for me.

If you like the sims, the witcher, and farming sim games - this is the game for you!

I bought Mirthwood once the marriage update was released and I genuinely haven't been able to put it down. I can see myself sinking many many hours into this game, and as of writing have already completed 39 hours. The fact that this game is visually and audibly stunning is an added bonus. I've been playing on steamdeck and there have been hiccups (there's a bit of lag occasionally, the bow is pretty much non-useable), however it seems the developers are active with keeping on top of the game and bringing updates. The world is very big, which is great as someone who loves exploration. You won't run out of things to do - between the main storyline, side quests, resource hunting and exploration, forming relationships with the NPCs and house/farm customisation- it's hit the nail on the head for keeping the player hooked. The balance of the time it takes to make money and upgrade tools is just right, you don't feel hindered or rushed but equally it doesn't just get handed to you. Unlike other farming sims, I really don't feel a time pressure with the days and the day lengths feel comfortable. I also don't feel like I've wasted time if I sleep to the next day. I also want to thank the devs for allowing a manual and auto save feature!! This has honestly been one of the best things, because it means I don't have to cut my day short because I want to save & quit the game. I feel as though the quality of life features are there which honestly makes such a difference when comparing to other games. This to me is the ultimate cosy game. I love the fact that there's combat which isn't just super simple or easy, it is challenging but not in a way that puts you off. Honestly, I really hope the devs keep bringing out updates and adding quests and possibly add multiplayer later down the line, because this is honestly one of the best games i've played. I would absolutely recommend this game to anyone.

Beautiful story telling voice and atmosphere. Some negative reviews refer to the mechanics being confusing, but while the game is not going to hold your hand much as you progress once you familiarise with the mechanics it all becomes pretty straightforward. I definitely recommend this game, it is a more adult version of Stardew Valley. Only thing missing is coop, which is coming soon :)
