they are not a good material income. but like most game modes offer something in crafting materials for your time.
you need to be using Challenge Keys for big crafting materials. these can drop Monster Cores, i think i spotted 6 cores drop from a level 29 stage one time but i dont really track it. 6 cores from a single drop is HUGE.
i have also seen a monster core drop from just stage 1 so this definitely the place to be.
to get many challenge keys (also drops stage keys at a rate of about 10 stage keys for every 1 challenge key), you must set up a basic material farm in - Tier 1 Mine or Mine Field - i prefer mine field for better bag space but its up to you since Mine can also drop cores but extremely low rates
use a combination of 'Damage Penetration' and 'Max.Multiple Kill' for efficient clear speeds !!!
there is a youtbe video showing an example of this. the short version is you are able to skip downtime between monster kills, killing 6 or more monsters in succession almost instantly.
this mechanic is not really obvious and the game does not really tell you to pursue it. with proper amounts of both penetration and multi kill you can get your clear speed for T1 mines down under 10 secs easily. penetration can reach over 100% but im not sure if the game will credit you more than 100% as im not there yet. and multi kills can reach idk umm.. base 2, rank 2 multi sword gives around +4, artifact another 3 iirc. set bonus another 3.. not sure but thats at least 11kills in around 1sec? although you most likely will sit around 2-5 kills per hit at th beginning
so your basic roll of the game at this point is to get a little of both multi-kill and pen, run T1 mines overnight, spend your stage keys for gatcha chests since these magical forge sets items can give you more penetration and multi kills (among many other great permanent stats) and a baseline income of crafting mats (just not much of it)
run all of your challenge keys to near your max (there are settings for auto stop etc since you will lose the key if you die. losing challenge keys possibly no big deal though they can can be obnoxious to try and keep if mishandled, but honestly its not hard to get more)
repeat.
with less than 20 challenge keys i guarantee you will be able to afford at least one 450 craft per day.
this is just a beginner build, it will get much better as you build up more penetration and multi kill
at T5 i am able to clear T2 mines in under 10secs giving me a small boost to overnight farm materials but >95% of my crafting mats still come from challenge keys
:edit: Yeah, tier 1 is better. The keys are the most important part, and those come from the bosses.
:edit2: I've even switched to farming in graveyard stage 1 now. It's only 20 enemies, so just farms the keys super quick. Don't care about random material drops, or anything else. Just get keys as quick as possible.

They can, you have to do some weird stuff to get them to.
Go to your main map, and turn off auto repeat or advance, whichever one you have on.
then try again
Get it working?
