While the remaster does have its advantages (like the expansions for all three games), I believe they should keep the classic versions for those who want to play it (and making them work on modern PCs isn't THAT terrible honestly). I must disagree. I don't think they work awful in modern systems and let's not forget not everyone might have a computer capable of running the remasters. The remasters and the original versions can stand side by side on the store. Those who would prefer the remasters, fine, buy and play them, but I don't think removing a game, simply because there's a "newer'"version, is the best course of action. For example: I now have a more powerful PC, but before this, my older PC could not run the remastered versions of Skyrim, Metro 2033, Assassin's Creed 3, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle and other games, but it would run the original versions of these games (some better than others). Unfortunately, since they were not available, I could not play them. And sometimes, remasters change some small details who nonetheless might not please everyone: the Spyro remasters, for example, they are excellent, but there are some aesthetical chages on some characters, like Hunter and Bianca in Spyro 3 that did not really please all the fans. As I said, the remasters and the originals can stand on the store, and anyone could buy whatever version they would prefer.

That's why patches exist...

I managed to play tomb raider 1 on both my steamdeck and my PC with relatively easy to do fixes.

if you don't want to download any additional data you can try going in the file and find the document called TOMBRAID , the game use dosbox and automatically open tomb.exe on launch.

there is a Tombno3dfx.exe which allow to launch the game with a software renderer which offer a better compability then whatever has been put in there to emulate 3DFX.

rename Tomb.exe then rename Tombno3fx.exe into Tomb.exe.

then just try to launch the game from steam again.

F.uck no. They can stay right where they are: they work fine on modern systems including on GOG and games have no right to be taken down like that. Like Unreal, Prey and Duke Nukem Megaton for example.

There's also the Tomb Main series which does a brilliant job at fixing, patching, and restoring stuff the remasters likely won't have in classic mode, like missing Saturn & PS1 effects, music missing from TR1 (I hope I'm wrong in this instance and we will have both PC ambience with the music on top of that like Tomb 1 Main), TRLE support (like Sabatu's Kaizo mods) and running the classic versions more easily on Steam Deck.

Damn right. Tomb Main works fine on most games on Steam Deck. The only TR game that doesn't work properly on Deck regardless of Proton version is Tomb Raider 2. The rest are fine.

Funny, i've never had any issues with these games on Steam.
And with fan patches they're even better.

Remasters don't invalidate the originals, I intend to play the remasters, achievement hunt them should they have any.
But should they not be a vastly superior version of the game than the fanpatched originals then I'll end up going back to these versions.

You can toggle on and off the remastered assets, at least from what I saw on the Switch version. Keep in mind I have no experience with fan patches and I too have issues playing the game on my PC (I have an elderly laptop though so that is more user end I think)

But I definitely agree there's no need to remove them from Steam, BECAUSE of the fan patch opportunities.
